@OW_Panthers Softball battles St. Joseph’s (L.I.) on the road

PATCHOGUE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury softball (7-7, 3-7 Skyline) lost 7-0 and 13-2 Skyline Conference decisions Sunday on the road to the St. Joseph's (L.I.) Golden Eagles (14-6, 6-2 Skyline).

Game 1: St. Joseph's 7, Old Westbury 0
Gabrielle Cinquemani (2-for-3, 2 RBI, R) broke the scoring ice in the first inning with a RBI single to drive home Kristen Arbiter for the game-winning run off Panther starter Amanda Fucci (3-4, 6 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, K).

Cinquemani would later lift a solo home run to spark a four-run fourth inning.

Delana Murray's two-out single put Old Westbury in the hit column in the fifth inning.

From there, Mallory McClafferty (5-1, 7 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 6 K) cruised for the complete-game shutout

as St. Joseph's added two more runs in the sixth to settle the scoring.

Murray (2-for-3, R) singled and stole second to lead off the game.  Three batters later, Old Westbury took a 1-0 lead on a RBI single by Samantha Scharff.

The Golden Eagles answered in the bottom of the first as McClafferty's three-run home run put St. Joseph's ahead for good on Panther starter Nicole DeCola (4-3, 4 IP, 17 H, 13 R, 4 ER, BB, 3 K).

Jillian McFadzen (4-for-4, 2 R, RBI) and Arbiter both singled to drive in runs in the second inning to extend the lead to four.

Gabriella Valdes singled to lead off the third inning and scored three batters later on Fucci's (2-for-3) RBI single to make it a 5-2 game.

McClafferty (3-for-3, 5 RBI, 3 R) homered to lead off the Golden Eagles' eight-run third inning to put the game away.  Lauren Buturia (5-2, 8 H, 2 R, BB, 5 K) tossed four innings to collect the Golden Eagles' win. 

FARMINGDALE STATE RAMS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns home Monday (Apr. 11) for a Skyline Conference doubleheader against the Farmingdale State Rams.  First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.
