Farmingdale started out strong, scoring the first three goals of the contest. But Maritime rallied back as Pellegrino scored his two goals back-to-back, only four seconds apart, to cut the deficit to three after the first quarter.

Both the second and third quarters were a defensive battle, as Farmingdale scored two scattered goals in the second quarter and then were shutout by Maritime in the third. Neither side recorded a goal in the third quarter of the contest.

In the final period, Farmingdale scored two early goals to take to increase their lead to five to take a 7-2 advantage. Diaz then answered with his goal at the 12:32 mark of the period. Petty's goal came with just under four minutes to go in the game.
