MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College softball team took the field for a double-header against non-conference opponent Elmira College on Thursday afternoon, dropping the first game 15-1 before falling 4-0 in the second.

The decision puts the Mustangs at 6-20 overall. Elmira moves to 9-11 overall.

In the first game of today's action, Elmira scored three times in the first and added two more in the second inning to take a 5-0 lead into the top of the third.

In the second game of today's action, Morrisville State's pitcher Brittany Keator (Roxbury, N.Y.) and Elmira's pitcher Emily Carlin got into a pitchers duel in the first four innings, keeping the score even at 0-0 going into the top of the fifth.

The Eagles would finish off the game by scoring two more runs in the top of the fourth inning to round out their scoring on the day.  The Mustangs would threaten a comeback in the bottom of the seventh, but were unable to put a run on the board.
