Sage (25-13, 14-4 Skyline) got off to an early 2-0 lead in game one when Alexa Silk (Freehold, NY/Greenville) and Morgan Dunn (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) scored on Katie Kovage (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) and Adams RBI's in the top of the first. St. Joseph's (19-13, 11-5 Skyline) responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the first when Lindsey Corriss scored on a Megan Laun RBI single.
The Gators went up 3-1 in the top of the third when Dunn scored on an Adams single to left field.
The Eagles cut the lead down to 3-2 in the bottom of the third when Mallory McClafferty scored on a Gabrielle Cinquemani single to left center.
In the bottom of the fourth, St. Joseph's McClafferty hit a grand slam to right center to go up 6-3.
Sage put five runners on base over the next three innings, but they were all left stranded in St. Joseph's 6-3 win.
McClafferty (8-4) was credited with the complete game, four strikeout effort, while Sage's Kovage (9-3) picked up the loss.
In game two, the Gators went up 2-0 in the top of the first when Allison Ford (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) and Katy Rimawi (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) scored on RBI's from Kovage and Adams. They extended their lead to 3-0 in the top of the third when Dunn scored on a Silk single.
The Eagles tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth when Corriss, Kristen Arbiter and Jillian McFadzen scored on RBI's from Arbiter and Leun. St. Joseph's took the lead in the bottom of the sixth when Sandra Foster scored on a Nicole Baron single up the middle.
Sage tied the game in the top of the seventh when Adams scored on a Single to right field. In the bottom of the seventh, St. Joseph's took the game on a two out, Cinquemani run.
McClafferty picked up her second win of the day while Sage's Lindsay Brace (Moriah, NY/Moriah Central) (10-6) got the loss.
On offense, Sage was led by Adams (5-8, three RBI's, run), Dunn (5-8, three runs) and Kovage (3-8, two RBI's).
With Skyline Championship approaching, Sage (14-4) has locked in the two seed. Mount Saint Mary (16-2) is the number one seed and will host the Skyline semifinals and finals. The other playoff teams include Mount Saint Vincent (14-4), St. Joseph's-Long Island (11-5), Farmingdale State (12-6) and Purchase (7-9).
On Wed., Apr. 27, Mount Saint Vincent will play Purchase and St. Joseph's-Long Island will play Farmingdale State in the first round of the Skyline Championship. The winners will join Mount Saint Mary and Sage at in the Skyline Semifinals and finals Apr. 29-May 1.
