GREENSBORO, N.C. – Defending champion Syracuse will be
the No. 2 seed in next week's ACC Women's Lacrosse Tournament in
Blacksburg, Va. The Orange will take on No. 7 seed Boston College in the
quarterfinals on Thursday, April 28 at 5 p.m. Syracuse posted a 5-2
mark in league play this season and enters the conference tournament
with a 14-4 overall record.
It marks the second consecutive year the Orange and Eagles (10-7, 2-5)
will meet in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals. Last season, Syracuse
defeated Boston College, 14-13, in double overtime on its way to its
first ACC Championship. The squads met earlier this season in Newton,
Mass. where the Eagles posted a 13-8 victory.
North Carolina is the top seed in the tournament after going undefeated
in ACC play this season. The Tar Heels will take on No. 8 seed Virginia
Tech in the first quarterfinal on Thursday at noon. No. 4 seed Duke
takes on fifth-seed Virginia at 2:30 p.m. The final quarterfinal of the
day features No. 3 seed Notre Dame and No. 6 seed Louisville at 7:30
p.m.
The semifinals will take place on Friday, April 29 at 5 p.m. and 7:30
p.m. The title game is slated for Sunday, May 1 at 1 p.m. The winner of
that game will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
