Game One
City started it off early and quick in the first inning. Elmy Antonio led-off for the Beavers and singled
to right field. After advancing to second on a wild pitch, Anthony Cacchione singled to advance Antonio to third. Cacchione then stole second to help set up Michael Siklas. SIklas grounded out, but was able to bring in Antonio for the first run of the game and advance Cacchione to third. Cacchione would then score on a wild pitch. That would be all for the Beavers in the first inning, but they led 2-0.
Sacha Urbach started on the mound for the Beavers and would pitch his third complete game.
The Dolphins followed that up with a run of their own but still trailed 2-1. In the bottom of the second inning, CSI picked up another run to tie the game at two runs a piece.
Uche Nwokelo led off the top of the fourth by getting hit by a pitch. Brendan Murphy advanced Nwokelo to second on a sacrifice bunt. Eric Giglio would reach on an error that would advance Nwokelo. Before Antonio could try to bring Nwokelo in, the second baseman made an error that scored Nwokelo. City led 3-2.
In the bottom of the fifth, CSI scored two runs to take their first lead of the game. The Dolphins led 4-3 as they headed into the sixth inning. City would be retired in order in the sixth and then CSI added more runs to their lead. In the bottom of the sixth inning, CSI scored two runs for a 6-3 lead. City would get nothing across in the seventh inning and would fall in game one 6-3.
In Urbach's six innings pitched he gave up nine hits and six runs, four of which were earned. The senior ace, struck out one and walked two in the loss.
Game Two
Game two would prove to be a tough match-up for the Beavers as they struggled early and were unable to hold off the conference leading Dolphins.
The Dolphins started with a big first inning where they would score six runs. Anthony Cacchione was the starting pitcher for CCNY who could not hold off CSI. In the first inning, CSI would score six runs off of five hits.
CSI followed that up with one run in the second inning for a 7-0 lead.
Cacchione would only pitch three innings for CCNY as Jeffrey Diaz would come in for relief as CSI led 7-0. Cacchione finished with two strikeouts as he gave up seven runs, six of which were earned.
CSI would add two runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth for a 10-0 lead. Diaz gave up three runs off of three hits, two of the runs were earned for CSI to lead 10-0. Diaz struck out one in the loss.
In the seven innings, City would record just five hits and get nothing across as CSI's pitcher, Christian Capellan would pitch a complete-game shut-out.
The Dolphins took game two 10-0.
City will travel to face non-conference opponent St. Joseph's (Long Island) for a mid-week match-up. The game is Tuesday, April 26 in Patchouge, New York. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
