Beavers Solid at All American Invitational

The City College of New York men's and women's track & field team competed at the All American Meet hosted by East Stroudsburg University in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. The men had 14 qualify for the CUNYAC Championship, while tallying 13 personal records. On the women's side, 10 qualified for the CUNYAC Championship, and eight set personal records.

On the men's track side, Jashane Morrison set a personal record 11.29 finish in the 100m dash to qualify for the CUNYAC Championship. He then set a personal record 200m dash time of 22.45 which qualified him for the CUNYAC Championship. His 200m dash time was .15 away from qualifying him for the ECAC Championship. Aaron Dickens set a personal best 11.60 finish in the 100m dash, which was just .10 seconds away from qualifiying for the CUNYAC Championship. In Daniel Alvarez's first 100m dash, he finished in 13.03. He followed that up with a personal best 28.65 finish in the 200m dash.  Timothy Lin set a personal record 23.79 finish in the 200m dash, while Onyelukachukwu Haidome competed in his first outdoor meet and finished in 26.95.

In the 3000m run, Thomas Sullivan set a personal record time of 9:59.43.Thomas Sullivan qualified
for the CUNYAC Championship with his 17:28.65 finish in the 5000m run. In the 1500m run, Miles Dijan finished in 4:56.22.

Bradley Brown qualified for the CUNYAC Championship in both the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles. He started off by setting a personal best 16.59 finish in the 110m hurdles. He followed that up with a personal best 1:02.39 finish in the 400m hurdles. Andrew Simon and Aaron Dickens both qualified for the CUNYAC Championship in the 400m hurdles. Simon finished in 1:00.16, while Dickens crossed the finish line in 1:02.18. Simon also set a personal outdoor best of a 52.45 finish in the 400m dash. His time was just .15 seconds away from qualifying him for the CUNYAC Championship. Timothy Lin also competed in the 400m dash and finished in 53.93.

Janssel Nunez and Dijan competed in the 800m for the Beavers. Nunez finished in 2:09.73, while Dijan was behind him at the 2:23.45 mark.

On the field side, Jeckesan Mejia qualified for the CUNYAC Championship in the hammer throw with his 34.13m distance. Harrison Foley set a personal best 25.59m throw in the event. Bassit Malam was the third Beaver in the hammer throw and recorded a distance of 16.60m. Mejia also qualified for the CUNYAC Championship in the shot put with his 13.32m throw. Malam recorded a 10.46m shot put throw.

Foley and Mejia both qualified for the CUNYAC Championship with their respective discus throws. Foley earned his spot with a 32.45m throw, which was followed by Mejia's 31.80m throw. Malam tossed the discus 25.41m.

Justin Herbert qualified for the CUNYAC Championship in the triple jump when he set a personal best 12.70m jump. Then in the long jump, he recorded a distance of 5.60m. Herbert followed his triple jump with a CUNYAC qualifying high jump. Herbert cleared 1.75m to earn his spot in the championship. Onyelukachukwu Haidome competed in the long jump for the first time and recorded a distance of 4.98m.

The 4x100m relay team, comprised of Dickens, Lin, Simon and Morrison finished the relay in 44.00. Brown, Dijan, Herbert and Nunez completed the 4x400m relay in 3:56.09.

On the women's track side, Cassie Gibbons led the way in the 400m dash with her CUNYAC Championship qualifying time of 59.61. This time is a personal outdoor best as well as landing her in fifth at the meet. Cathenia Murray also qualified for the CUNYAC Championship when she finished the event in 1:03.91. Murray then set a personal record with her 200m dash finish of 27.14. This time was .14 seconds off from qualifying for the CUNYAC Championship.

Yanelle Serrano set a personal best 15.04 finish in the 100m dash as the sole CCNY female running in the event.

Five Beavers competed in the 800m run. Zulena Saravia led the way with her 2:53.55 finish. She was followed by Ashley Crandall who set an outdoor personal record time of 2:55.07. Christin Hu finished in 3:02.01, while Katiuska Sosa crossed the finish line at the 3:07.54 mark. Iryna Stashuk set a personal record finish of 3:33.03.

Hu then competed in the 1500m and 3000m run. In the 1500m run, she finished in 6:22.91, while she crossed the finish line in 13:45.85 in the 3000m run. Crandall also competed in the 1500m run and finished in a time of 5:57.50.

Gibbons, Serrano, Murray and Brown were the members of the 4x100m relay team that finished in 55.14.

On the field side for the women, Makita Ellis and Jessica Thomas qualified for the CUNYAC Championship in the hammer throw. Ellis qualified with her 29.25m throw, while Thomas's throw of 28.17m put her into the championship. Jaclyn Williams also competed in the hammer throw and recorded a distance of 17.78m. Thomas then recorded a distance of 18.32m in the javelin throw. Followed by Williams who recorded a 22.42 javelin throw. Alicia Tyndale competed in the javelin and threw 17.28m.

Ellis, Williams, and Thomas all then qualified for the CUNYAC Championship in the discus. Ellis threw a distance of 24.21m, while Williams recorded a 24.21m throw. Thomas followed and set her mark at 23.39m. Tyndale also competed in the discus and recorded a distance of 15.65m.

Williams then set a personal record of 10.73m in the shot put that was a good enough mark to qualify her for the CUNYAC Championship. Thomas also set a personal best 9.59m shot put throw that qualified her for the CUNYAC Championship. Ellis qualified for the CUNYAC Championship with her 9.63m throw. Tyndale recorded a distance of 7.88m in the shot put.

In the triple jump, Zyare Brown recorded a 9.50m jump. Brown also competed in the long jump and recorded a distance of 3.69m. Brown finished the day with a 1.38m high jump clearance. Serrano set a personal record with her 3.74m long jump.

The Beavers will send compete next week at the Penn Relays hosted by University of Pennsylvania. The Penn Relays takes place Thursday, April 28 - Saturday, April 30. City will have a quick turnaround as the team then heads to Brick City Track & Field Classic hosted by NJIT in Newark, New Jersey on Sunday, May 1.
