Parson potted two goals in the contest to bring his season total to 36, one more than the record he set last year. The senior captain will go down as the best attack player in program history when his career comes to an end, as he is the holder of most offensive program records at Vassar. Parson stands atop the record book for career goals (121), assists (51) and therefore points (172).
Parson was one of three seniors to be honored prior to the contest. T.J. Morrow and Nick Page were
also recognized for their contributions to Vassar men's lacrosse, as this marks the winningest senior class in program history.
On the offensive end, Parson added an assist to go with his two goals, as six Brewers found the back of the net. Freshman James Thomas notched two goals and a pair of assists for a team-high four points, while Brandon DeStasio, Sam Houston-Read, Liam Neville and Chris Billups each tallied one goal in the contest.
Vassar capitalized on RIT penalties, going 2-of-3 in extra-man opportunities. Meanwhile, the Brewers went the entire game without a penalty.
Defensively, Brian Kube picked up a team-high four ground balls, while Parson, Eric Fishman and Steven Mages all had two.
Goalkeepers Matt Boyd (eight saves) and Brandon Crecco (four saves) split time in net, with Boyd taking the loss. Jarryd Lee earned the win with eight saves through three quarters, as the Tigers outshot the Brewers 44-21.
Drew Tosaya and Chad Levick paced RIT with three goals apiece, as 15 Tigers found the back of the net. Shawn Nally and Ryan Lee each netted two goals, while everyone else finished with one.
Thomas struck first, putting the Brewers on the board with an unassisted goal three minutes into the contest. But the Tigers scored 12 unanswered to take a 12-1 lead with 9:49 remaining in the second quarter.
The Brewers fought back, using a 4-2 run to trim the deficit to 14-5 with 6:25 left in the third quarter. Houston-Read potted his 22nd goal of the season, Neville netted his third, DeStasio scored his 15th and Billups notched his 14th during a man-up opportunity.
The Tigers outscored the Brewers 7-3 the rest of the way, with Parson scoring back-to-back goals and Thomas scoring on another man-up opportunity.
With the loss, the Brewers fall to 7-7 overall and 2-3 in conference play, while the Tigers improve to 13-1 and 6-0 in the Liberty League.
