Oswego drops Buffalo Women’s Lacrosse, 17-7

OSWEGO, N.Y.— Buffalo State was held scoreless over the final 22:33 of the game as host Oswego pulled away for a 17-7 victory Tuesday night in a SUNYAC contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Cassie Saint-Vil (Middletown/Middletown) and Morgan Hogue (Painted Post/Corning) led Buffalo State with two goals and one assist each.
  • Christina Krowel (Amsterdam/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Sarah Lorusso (Lakeview/Frontier) added a goal each, and the SUNYAC's leading scorer Alanna Herne (Tonawanda/Tonawanda) was also held to just a single goal.
  • Buffalo State opened the scoring less than four minutes into the game, but Oswego took control from there, netting seven of the game's next eight goals and led 10-5 at the intermission.
  • Buffalo State closed the gap to 10-7 early in the second half, but the Lakers closed the game on a 6-0 run, holding the Bengals scoreless for the final 22:33.
  • Elyse Stark (Lido Beach/Long Beach) made six saves, surrendering 12 goals in just under 40 minutes of play, before Megan Doyle (Palmyra/Palmyra-Macedon) made two saves while allowing five goals.
  • The Lakers outshot Buffalo State 39-22, while most other statistics were even.

FOR THE FOES
  • Teresa Shattuck led Oswego with three goals and four assists, while Emily Lange and Esther Gabriel added three goals apiece.
  • Angela Ponto finished with 11 saves in goal.

UP NEXT
Buffalo State will next play at nationally No. 1-ranked Cortland this Saturday at 11 a.m.
