FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia's women's lacrosse team was within three minutes of its first conference win against Oswego on Thursday before a late goal tipped the scale in the Lakers' favor, 10-9.

Oswego's Esther Gabriel, who finished with six goals in the game, tied the score at 9-9 with eight
minutes remaining. She again netted the game-winner in the final minutes. The win moved the Lakers to 2-1 in the SUNYAC, while the Blue Devils fell to 0-3.

Kristie Kleine (Cazenovia, N.Y. / Cazenovia) tallied three goals for the Blue Devils, while Jade Williams (Tully, N.Y. / Lafayette) had two as the Blue Devils outshot the Lakers, 26-19. Audrey Yokopovich (Webster, N.Y. / Webster Thomas) finished with six draw controls.

The Blue Devils and Lakers chose this game to remember Molly Seifritz, a 2011 Buffalo State graduate and women's lacrosse player and team captain who died in 2013 of Ewing Sarcoma, a rare and fast-growing form of cancer. Women's lacrosse teams throughout the SUNYAC have chosen to honor Molly's memory each of the past three years and invite everyone to learn more about her and her story by visiting http://www.teammolly.net/. All donations made in Molly's memory will be donated to Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo for research.

The Blue Devils will take to the road in search of their first SUNYAC win in New Paltz on Saturday. Game time is at 1 p.m.
