Softball Swept by #23 Southern New Hampshire

Clermont, Fla. – The softball team returned to action at the PFX Spring Games against #23 Southern New Hampshire University, dropping both contests in the doubleheader.

Game 1: Molloy 1, Southern New Hampshire 2
Sophomore Courtney Greene was able to work out of jams each of the first three innings, leaving a total of five Penmen on base to keep the game scoreless.

Southern New Hampshire plated the first run of the contest in the fourth inning on an RBI single. The lead doubled the next at bat with another single to right.

The Lions cut the lead in half in the seventh inning on an RBI double from freshman Amanda King. The shortstop was thrown out advancing to third on the throw home to end the contest.

King, Greene, and senior Kaitlyn Snyder recorded the lone hits for the maroon and white.

Game 2:
Southern New Hampshire took a 2-0 lead following a home run in the top of the first inning.

The Penmen added three runs in the top of the fourth with a three-run home run to Gabriella Vachon.

Senior Kaitlyn Snyder put Molloy on the board with a solo home run over the left field fence in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Lions recorded eight hits, led by two from Snyder, Greene, and redshirt sophomore Mikaela Tribby.

Senior Jenna Turato struck out five batters through 3.1 innings for the loss while sophomore Tonianne Larson fanned five in 3.2 innings of relief.
