Softball Sweeps Le Moyne to Conclude PFX Spring Games

Clermont, Fla. – The softball team closed the PFX Spring Games out with a sweep of Le Moyne College, led by two RBIs from freshman Amanda King. The Lions sit at 6-9 after the tournament after going 5-5 on the trip.

Game 1: Molloy 6, Le Moyne 2
The Dolphins struck first, with Kailey LaForce scoring on a wild pitch from King.

The pitcher then knotted the score with an RBI double to right center field, scoring sophomore Courtney Greene.

Freshman Adriana Saab then gave the maroon and white a 2-1 advantage after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

King drove in her second run of the contest with another double, this time to left center.

Le Moyne came within one in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI double.

Senior Kaitlyn Snyder propelled the Lions in front with a three-run home run over the center field fence.

Greene went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored while senior Tara Byrnes went 3-for-3 with a run scored in the effort.

King fanned eight batters in a complete-game effort, allowing just five hits.

Game 2: Le Moyne 0, Molloy 8 (Five Innings)
The maroon and white's offense went to work quickly, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first on a single by freshman Lauren Ramos.

Freshman Alex Burns doubled the lead in the fourth inning, driving in two runs with a single up the middle.

The scoring in the fourth continued as Burns and Saab scored after a throwing error by the Dolphins' short stop.

A two-run double from King set the score at 8-0 after four innings of play.

Greene kept the Dolphins off the board in the top of the fifth inning, earning the 8-0 victory via the mercy rule.

Greene struck out seven batters and allowed just four hits.

Burns led with two hits for the Lions and drove in two runs. King also picked up two RBIs.

Looking Ahead
Molloy will face Assumption College on Saturday (Mar. 16) at 1:00 p.m. on the campus of Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass.
