WALTHAM, Mass. — The NYIT women's lacrosse team suffered an overtime heartbreaker at the hands of Bentley for a second straight season.

This time, Cara McCarthy scored in OT and the host Falcons defeated the Bears, 12-11.

Bentley had rallied from an 11-9 second-half deficit, pulling even with 45 seconds remaining in regulation on Julia Glavin's seventh goal of the afternoon.

A year ago at President's Stadium, Karie Znaniecki had forced overtime for the Bears with a goal with 24 seconds remaining in the second half. But Kathleen Gillespie scored in the extra period to lift the Falcons to that March 15, 2018, win.

NYIT (2-1) suffered its first 2019 defeat on Saturday.

Brooke Basso had a team-high three goals in the defeat. Jaclyn Grzelaczyk had two goals and four assists. Madisyn Hausch also contributed two goals.

The Bears now look to rebound when they host Shippensburg on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at President's Stadium.
