Cougar Quartet Takes Second in Tumbling Competition

The Medgar Evers College co-ed cheerleading team competed at the CUNYAC Cheerleading Championships, which were held at York College in Jamaica, NY, on Thursday, March 7.

The Cougars finished in sixth place overall, taking second place in the tumbling competition and fifth place in the jumping event.

This was the only competition of the season for the MEC cheerleading team, which had the Cougar quartet of Zoe Abney, Mathilda Bruny, Tatianna Footman, and Eliah Tull representing the black-and-gold at York.

The tumbling portion of the competition was the strongest area for the Cougars, led by tumbling specialist Tull, who wowed fans of MEC basketball and volleyball at the Cougars Cave throughout this past season with his difficult somersaults, flips, cartwheels, and handsprings performed at midcourt.

The Cougars finished with 14.8 points in the tumbling event, just behind College of Staten Island's 17.0.

CSI won the competition ahead of Borough of Manhattan Community College.
