ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Senior Josh Arndt hit his first home run of the season and junior Seth Urbon turned in a quality start, but the baseball team was defeated, 5-1, by host Navy in the rubber game of the teams' non-league series on Sunday at chilly Bishop Stadium.

Urbon settled in after a pair of doubles and a passed ball allowed Navy (8-7) to take a 2-0 lead after the first inning. He retired 13 straight over the meat of his outing, which was tied for second-longest over 13 collegiate starts.

Arndt cut the deficit in half for Cornell (1-8) with his home run down the line in right with two out in the seventh. The Mids countered right back with a double and single on the other side of the stretch to restore the two-run lead. Urbon then fanned the next two batters and induced a groundout to wrap up his seven-inning start.

Freshman Justin Taylor hit a two-out single in the eighth to bring the tying run to the plate, but Navy got the third out before tacking on with a two-run triple from Liam Lowery.

Cornell returns to the Old Line State next weekend for three games at Towson. The first game is a neutral-site affair against Fordham at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, then the Big Red takes on the host team at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
