Wakefield Scores First Career Goal, Earns Third Career Victory in Win at Hilbert

Hamburg, NY – Sophomore Allison Wakefield scored her first collegiate goal and earned her third career win between the pipes as the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team cruised to a 17-1 victory v. Hilbert College on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Wakefield stopped the only shot she faced in goal during the first half as the Roos (6-5) built an 11-0 halftime lead. Eight different players scored in the opening 30 minutes including Sam Chilano netting her first career goal with 3:21 remaining in the half.
 
Josephine Ban got the Hawks (1-8) on the board 33 seconds into the second half before the Roos responded with the final six goals of the game for the 17-1 final.
 
Molly Denny led the Roos with one goal and five assists, while Allison Auger added two goals and three assists. Katelynn Nutter recorded a season-high four points on three goals and an assist, while Carin Sherwood totaled two goals and two assists. Jessica Pele and MaryClare Bowes each found the back of the net twice, while Logan Bush tallied a goal and assist.
 
Sherwood picked up game-highs of five draw controls and five ground balls, while Auger also recorded five ground balls.
 
Wakefield made one save in the first half, while Nicole Piskorowski turned aside four shots after halftime. Ashley Repine made four stops in the start for Hilbert, while Caitlyn Eleczko made four saves in the second half.
