Keuka College Softball Swept at Penn St.-Berks

READING, Pa. — The Keuka College Softball team lost a pair of games on Saturday afternoon at Penn St.-Berks in a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader.
Keuka College (1-7, 0-2 NEAC) lost the opener 7-1 and fell in the nightcap to the Nittany Lions 6-1.

Penn St.-Berks struck first on Saturday as they got an RBI single in the bottom of the second for a 1-0 lead. They added four runs in the bottom of the fourth before Keuka College got on the board.
Maddie Dupuis singled down the left field line to score Brittany Vergason in the top of the fifth inning. Berks responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning as they defeated Keuka College 7-1 in Game 1.
Lead Wolf: Mickenzie Palmer singled in the sixth inning for Keuka College. It was the 100th hit of her career.

The Nittany Lions got a solo home run in the first inning for the 1-0 lead. Keuka College tied it in the third. Jessie Hammers singled to center. With two outs, Hammers scored from first as Mickenzie Palmer doubled to right for the Wolves. She would be stranded at third in the inning, but the game was tied at 1-1.
A pair of doubles in the bottom of the third gave Berks a quick response as they plated three in the inning to take the lead back. The Nittany Lions added two insurance runs in the fifth on their way to the 6-1 victory.
Lead Wolf: Jessie Hammers had a pair of hits in the game for Keuka College.

  • Penn St.-Berks took an 11-10 lead all-time against Keuka College in their first regular season meeting since the 2010 season
  • Keuka College and Penn St.-Berks have met in the last two NEAC Championships with the home team winning each tournament (Keuka College in 2016, Penn St.-Berks in 2017)
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will return to action on Monday as they travel to Wells College to face the Express. First pitch for the North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader is set for 5pm.
