Cazenovia Comes Back To Defeat Wells Men's Lacrosse

The Wells College men's lacrosse team fell to Cazenovia College 21-14 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game Tuesday, April 3 at the Wells Turf Field.

Cazenovia improved to 2-5 overall and is 1-1 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Wells is 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the NEAC.

Wells held a 4-3 lead after the opening quarter. Cazenovia scored the first two goals of the game but Wells scored three of four goals in a run to close the quarter. Carson Combs and Aaron Heisey scored the first two goals and Brady Hoose scored twice.

The Wildcats scored five of the first six goals of the second quarter to build an 8-5 lead, but Wells closed the half with three goals in the final three minutes of the quarter. Brian Buttner scored twice and Tanner Mingen added the game-tying goal.

The Express took a pair of one-goal leads in the early part of the third quarter. Aaron Heisey scored a man-up goal to give Wells a 9-8 lead, and Brady Hoose scored on an assist from Heisey to put Wells ahead 10-9.

Cazenovia answered with a five-goal run and led the rest of the way.

Brady Hoose led Wells with five goals and three assists. Brian Buttner had three goals and two assists. Aaron Heisey had three goals and one assist. Zack Simone made 15 saves. Tanner Mingen had four caused turnovers seven ground balls.

Wells returns to action Saturday, April 7 at Morrisville State College for a 1 p.m. game.
