Game 1 Recap
Clausen got the start in the opener and struck out the first two to face him before getting the third out via a popup to Schiavoni.

Semler reached to open the bottom of the inning ahead of Deddo's run-scoring double and a Costleigh walk. A failed pickoff attempt moved the pair into scoring position before Zurita singled to drive in Deddo, while Diaz brought Costleigh home with a single to make it 3-0. Senior John Verwoert (Nanuet, N.Y./Nanuet) walked to load the bases.

Two batters later Sullivan doubled to left centerfield to bring home a pair. Semler walked in his second at bat of the inning, while Deddo and Costleigh both drew bases-loaded walks to make it 7-0. Russo singled to right field, which brought home two more runs but was thrown out trying to stretch the hit into a double as Maritime put up a nine spot.

Clausen continued to roll through the third inning, before Deddo homered to right field in the bottom of the third to put Maritime up by 10. The Privateers added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth as Russo and Zurita singled to lead off the frame. Three batters later Schiavoni picked up an RBI with a single, before Sullivan doubled home Zurita to give Maritime a 12-run lead.

As Clausen continued to roll in the top of the innings, Maritime added more in the bottom of the frames as the team tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Deddo walked followed by a single by Costleigh. Zurita singled to bring Deddo home, before Verwoert collected an RBI on a first-pitch single down the left field line. Schiavoni singled to load the bases before Sullivan walked to register another RBI and cap off Maritime's run total at 15.

In the top of the sixth Clausen ran into a small hiccup and allowed two runs to score on a double down the left field line as Staten Island scratched two runs across.

McQuail worked his way in and out of trouble in the top of the seventh, but got the final batter to fly out to secure the game one victory.

Game 2 Recap
In the night cap Ammirati walked the opening hitter of the game on four pitches but got a key double play turned by sophomore Jake Vera (Plainview, N.Y./Bethpage), who caught the bunt on a pop and threw down to first to get the first two outs of the game before Ammirati retired the third batter via flyout.

In the bottom of the first Maritime's offense got back to work as Deddo walked with one out before Costleigh reached on a perfectly-placed bunt. Russo doubled to right-centerfield but the ball rolled out under the gate in right center to keep Costleigh at third on the ground rule. Maritime settled for the one before handing the ball back to Ammirati.

In the second, Ammirati breezed as he needed just six pitches to get out of the inning. In the top of the third he allowed a pair of singles but held the Dolphins at bay to keep the Privateer lead at one.

Maritime's offense got back to work as Deddo walked with one out but was erased on a fielder's choice that actually caromed off the second base bag. Costleigh stole second before Russo reached on an infield single and Zurita loaded the bases with a bunt single.

Up next was Diaz, who singled to left center to score a pair as Zurita stopped at third on the place. With Vera batting, Diaz stole second and as the throw went down to second base Zurita swiped home to put Maritime up by four.

After Ammirati set down the side in the fourth, the Privateers added on with two more runs as Sullivan led off the fourth with a walk on a 3-2 pitch before moving up to second on a wild pitch. Semler stroked a base hit to the opposite field to bring home Sullivan and then moved up to second on a balk. Two batters later Costleigh brought home Semler with a base knock to left field to put Maritime up 6-0.

A scoreless fifth inning by both sides was followed by a two-run inning by the Dolphins in the top of the sixth as three of the first five batters reached to load the bases. Ammirati allowed the first run with a bases loaded walk before Graff came on and allowed one inherited runner to score before picking up the strikeout to end the threat.

Graff closed out the game in the top of the seventh despite allowing a two-out walk. The third save of the season for Graff sets a new single-season record as the previous modern-day record was two, held by eight different pitchers including Graff's freshman season.

Maritime (14-7, 4-2 Skyline) will return to league play on Sunday, as the Privateers host the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Mariners for a 12 p.m. first pitch on Reinhart Baseball Field.
