PITTSBURGH, Pa. - After a quick change in game date and site location was determined, the Hilbert Hawks traveled down to La Roche College this morning in order to play their first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference softball double header this spring season.

The Hawks struggled to connect at the plate facing an impressive pitching staff today.  Hilbert finished with six hits on the day as they suffered an 8-0 defeat and then a 9-1 night cap loss.

Jenna Castricone went 2-for-3 at the plate and Marisa McIntyre covered the circle for Hilbert in the twin bill today.

GAME ONE:

Morgan Grosch and Jenna Castricone earned both of Hilbert's hits through the five inning game.

Marisa McIntyre  struck one out, walked four, and finished with six hits and five earned runs through

her four innings of work.

The Redhawks built a 7-0 lead after three innings and tacked the final run on in the bottom of the fourth.

GAME TWO:
The Hawks struggled at the plate in the night cap game against an undefeated Redhawk pitcher (4-0).

Hilbert put one run on the board in the first inning; Maia Delaney singled and moved around to third thanks to Hannah Prenoveau and Gabriella Bongiorno.  She sprinted home on the throw to first which tagged Bongiorno out on a steal attempt.

A pair of Hilbert errors in the bottom of the 2nd shifted the lead to La Roche (4-1) who added another run in the third, taking a 5-1 advantage.

With one out at the top of the 4th, Castricone connected for a triple but was stranded after two quick outs flipped the score book to the opposite page.

The Redhawks manufactured four addition runs in the 5th to claim the win on run differential again.

McIntyre (3-4) went 4.1 innings and finished with one strike out and while giving up four earned runs.

The 6-8 Hawks (0-2 AMCC) return to the field April 11 when they travel to Penn State Behrend for their second AMCC double header of the season.
