Buffalo State Women’s Lacrosse falls to No. 24 St. John Fisher, 16-9

PITTSFORD, N.Y.—Buffalo State spotted host No. 24 St. John Fisher an early lead and could not claw its way back in a 16-9 loss today at a snowy Growney Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Nina Schaefer (Lafayette/Lafayette) paced Buffalo State with four goals and an assist.
  • Christina Krowel (Amsterdam/B.H.-B.L.) added two goals and an assist, and Kendall Skuse(Churchville/Churchville-Chili) chipped in a goal and two assists.
  • Morgan Hogue (Painted Post/Corning) and Jackie Dufresne (Lake View/Frontier) also scored for Buffalo State.
  • St. John Fisher opened the scoring with four goals in a span of less than five minutes and led 4-0 less than eight minutes into the contest.
  • After the Bengals answered with a pair of goals, the Cardinals went on a 5-0 run, before Buffalo State scored the final two goals of the first half to trail 9-4 at the intermission.
  • St. John Fisher scored the first two goals of the second half and the Bengals never cut the deficit to fewer than six the rest of the way.
  • The Cardinals dominated possession with a 22-5 advantage in draw controls and a 43-11 edge in shots.
  • Elyse Stark (Lido Beach/Long Beach) made 12 saves to keep Buffalo State in the contest and the Bengals converted on 9 of 10 shots on goal at the offensive end.
 
FOR THE FOES

  • Mary Grace Doyle led St. John Fisher with four goals.
  • Mallory Eymer and Kelsie Schindler had two goals and two assists apiece.
 
UP NEXT
Buffalo State will return to SUNYAC play on Saturday at Coyer Field when it hosts Potsdam at 1 p.m.
