Tachon Scores Five as Ramapo Edges FSC

Mahwah, N.J. - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team fell 14-12 in a non-conference game against Ramapo College last night. Senior midfielder Alyssa Tachon (Pequannock, N.J.) led the way for the Roadrunners with a game-high five goals and one assist in the victory.

Tied 3-3 with 11:57 left in the first, FSC (1-7) tallied back-to-back goals by junior attack Nicola Ingrassia (Deer Park, N.Y.) and freshman attack Julia Tuohy (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) to go ahead, 5-3. Ramapo (5-3) responded with unassisted goals from Colleen Manley (Roseland, N.J.) and Tachon to even the score at 5-5 with 3:01 remaining in the half. Only seven seconds later, sophomore attack Sam Shelton (Holtsville, N.Y.) recorded the final goal of the half as Farmingdale State took a 6-5 advantage into the break. FSC senior goalkeeper Jessica Meyers (Smithtown, N.Y.) recorded eight saves in the first half.

Over the first 6:07 of the second half, the Roadrunners outscored FSC 4-1, including two goals from

junior midfielder Beth McGraw (Sparta, N.J.) to open up a two-goal lead. After Rams' freshman midfielder Danielle Hall (Levittown, N.Y.) scored off the feed from Tuohy, a pair of unassisted goals from Tachon put Ramapo in front 11-8 with 15:44 on the clock.

Farmingdale State used back-to-back goals to cut the deficit to 11-10, but the Roadrunners answered with three straight scores to take their largest lead of the game at 14-10. The Rams registered two goals over the final 1:29 as they fell, 14-12. 

Tuohy finished the game with a team-high five points on four goals and one assist, while Shelton and Ingrassia each scored twice. Senior midfielder Samantha Morra (Levittown, N.Y.) recorded a season-high six draw controls and freshman midfielder Haley Perez (Smithtown, N.Y.) had a game-high five ground balls. 

Ramapo sophomore midfielder Ava Rinaldi (Ridgewood, N.J.) scored two goals and added an assist and junior midfielder Gabi Davidson (Oradell, N.J.) had a game-high nine draw controls and team-leading four ground balls in the win. 

Meyers stopped 11 shots for the Rams, while senior Monica Bubello (Middletown, N.J.) had 10 saves for the Roadrunners. 

Farmingdale State next will play host to Merchant Marine in a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, April 7th at noon.
