On-going Programs for Children & Families at Red Hook Public Library

Kids’ Gaming Lounge
3:30 - 4:30, Mondays, May 6, 13 & 20
Children ages 10 and up are invited to relax in the Kids’ Gaming Lounge in the “tween room” of the Children’s Library. We have laptops, video games, a TV, and snacks. You can play Atari, SEGA Genesis with retro classics like Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog, as well as contemporary favorites such as Minecraft and Roblox. Registration is recommended for this free program for children.

Tiny Tots Theater
10:30 - 11:15, Tuesdays, May 7, 14, 21 & 28
Adventure awaits! Tuesday mornings we bring out our dress-up box to become superhero dinosaurs working as short-order cooks, or royal pirates in search of mythical creatures. This program is for pre-school-aged children as young as 2 and as old as 5. No registration is required for this free program.

Preschool Play & Learn
10:30 - 11:15, Wednesdays, May 8, 15, 22 & 29
This is storytime with activity-based learning for young preschoolers. This program is a fun way to introduce early literacy concepts and children as young as 2 can participate - though babies are welcome too. No registration is required for this free program.

Petit Picasso
10:30 - 11:30, Thursdays, May 9, 16, 23 & 30
Ready to get creative? Come paint at the library! If you’re a preschooler who can hold a brush, you can paint. Using washable tempera paints, children create masterpieces suitable for framing or fridge decor. We supply smocks, but also recommend that kids come ready to be a bit messy -- just in case. No registration is required for this free program.

Libratory
10:30 - 11:30, Thursdays, May 9, 16, 23 & 30
In our experiment-based science program for homeschoolers we cover STEM subjects such as chemistry, biology, physics, and more. The program is designed for students aged 6+ but we can accommodate a wide range of skill levels. No registration is required for this free program.

Art After School
3:30-4:30pm, Thursdays, May 9, 16, 23 & 30
Children ages 10 and up are invited for an hour of creative expression with Amy. Media ranges from collage to block printing to soft sculpture, and more. Registration is required for this free program.

Lego Club
4:00 - 5:00, Fridays, May 10, 17, 24 & 31
Enjoy our massive collection of Legos to build whatever your imagination can cook up. No registration is required for this free program.

Family Movie Night
5:00 - 7:00, Friday, May 17
We’ve got the popcorn and a family-friendly, recent movie about a magical nanny in London. Call the library for movie title & more information. No registration is required for this free event.

Adoptive Families Group
5:30 - 6:30, Friday, May 10
Red Hook Public Library welcomes adoptive families for community and conversation in the Children’s Library. With games and art projects for the children, parents can talk with each other and/or join in the mess-making mayhem. No registration is required for this free event.
