Fans invited to bring their “feathered friends” to Ducks afternoon game on May 18th
Central Islip, N.Y. – Following the continued success of “Bark in the Park” Night at Bethpage Ballpark, the Long Island Ducks today announced the team will host “Birds in the Ballpark” this season. Fans wishing to bring a bird to the ballpark can do so for the 1:05 p.m. game on Saturday, May 18th, against the New Britain Bees.
“QuackerJack is looking forward to finally seeing all of his ‘feathered friends’ at the ballpark,” said Ducks Director of Promotions and Marketing Jordan Schiff. “Fans have enjoyed bringing their pet dogs to the ballpark in recent years, and this now gives bird lovers the opportunity to live out that same exciting dream.”
“Birds in the Ballpark” will include many special activities taking place. Prior to the game, the team will host a Bird Flyover above the ballpark during the singing of the National Anthem. Fans who wish to have their birds be a part of the flyover should plan to release their bird into the air at 1:04 p.m. In addition, the team will have special bird-themed on-field promotions taking place throughout the game as well as the playing of bird sounds throughout the ballpark speakers all game long.
Those interested in bringing a bird to the game must purchase a Birding Pass in advance. Passes include a ticket to the May 18th 1:05 p.m. game in designated “Bird Box” seating sections as well as admission for any amount of birds to the game. Only those holding Birding Passes will be permitted to bring birds into the ballpark that day, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis with limited availability. Please note, as per security rules, no cages will be allowed in the ballpark. Birds will be allowed to roam free throughout the ballpark as they please.
Birding Passes are available now for just $14 each. Season ticket and mini plan holders who wish to bring their bird to “Birds in the Ballpark” must exchange their tickets for the May 18th day game at the Bethpage Ballpark box office in advance of the game.
