American Desirae Krawczyk Nearing Mixed Doubles History at US Open

*Corrected to reflect that Joe Salisbury is bidding to become the first man since Bob Bryan in 2010, not Mike, to win the mixed and men's doubles titles at the US Open in the same year.*

American Desirae Krawcyzk (27, Palm Desert, Calif.) is through to the US Open mixed doubles final, after she and Joe Salisbury (GBR) defeated Americans Austin Krajicek and Jessica Pegula, 7-6 (2), 6-4, in Friday's semifinals.

The Arizona State product is one victory away

from achieving the rare feat of winning three of four Grand Slam mixed doubles titles in the same year, after she won the French Open with Salisbury and Wimbledon with Neal Skupski (GBR).

Only six players, male or female, have accomplished that in the Open Era:

2015 - Martina Hingis and Leander Paes
1985 - Martina Navratilova
1979 - Bob Hewitt
1969 - Marty Riessen and Margaret Court

Meanwhile, Salisbury won the men's doubles title on Friday and is in contention to become the first man to win both the men's and mixed doubles titles at the US Open since Bob Bryan in 2010.
