The Alfred State volleyball team opened up AMCC play with a 25-19, 25-16, 25-21 victory over Penn State Altoona. The Pioneers remain perfect at home (5-0) and improve to 7-1 on the year.
The trio of Alyssa Martin (Portville), Kiara
Perkins (Coudersport, PA), and Keturah Gregory (Largo, MD) led the way for the blue and gold. Martin led the team with nine kills and four aces, Perkins had eight kills, and Gregory finished with eight kills (.583 hitting percentage).Nayomie Ferrer (Eastridge) passed out 28 assists, had six digs, and three kills while Emma Petrichick (Belmont/Genesee Valley) led the team with eight digs.
Lacee Barnhart led Altoona with 10 kills and eight digs (5-2, 0-1 AMCC).
Alfred State finished the match with a .244 hitting percentage while the Lions hit only .090. The Pioneers had 11 aces and held PSA to six.
The Pioneers have a week off before taking the court again next Saturday when they are slated to play a doubleheader with Pitt Greensburg. First serve is slated for 11 a.m. at the Orvis Activities Center.
