Seven Players Score Goals as UR Rolls Past Waynesburg, 7-2



McGinty had one goal and two assists on Saturday morning in a 7-2 win.


WAYNESBURG, PA – Rochester exploded for three goals in a span of 11 minutes to take control in a 7-2 women's soccer victory over Waynesburg University on Saturday morning.  This was UR's third consecutive win, all on the road. The UR Yellowjackets (Waynesburg has the same nickname) defeated Alfred, 3-0, then blanked Keuka College, 4-0. Rochester is 4-2-1 overall, 4-0-1 away from home.
 
Mia McGinty and Robin de Jong scored one goal

and had two assists apiece. In all, seven Rochester players scored one goal; Megan PungJordyn KowalkowskiEmma BatesClaire Grover, and Sarah Martin.
 
The home side took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute. Sara Rentler played a short pass to Haley Frizzell along the left sideline, 20 yards off the endline. Frizzell lofted a shot into the center of the goalmouth. It got over the head of UR goalkeeper Becca Rust and settled into the back of the net at 14:57.

Five minutes later, Rochester was level. UR earned a second consecutive corner kick after the first one was deflected over the line at the back post with blue shirts lurking. On the serve from the opposite side, McGinty placed it into the crease and Pung headed home from short range at 19:31.
 
The go-ahead goal was scored from close range by Kowalkowski. de Jong pushed a pass forward that put Kowalkowski one-on-one with Waynesburg keeper Autumn Blair and Kowalkowski slotted it into the low right side. Bates made it 3-1 at 37:44 with de Jong picking up a second assist. It went to 4-1 at 38:25 on McGinty's short just under the crossbar.
 
Waynesburg scored a second goal at 43:18. Lea Holtz connected with a drive to the low right corner with Meg Briski and Leah Vinay picking up assists. It was 4-2 at halftime.
 
Early in the second half, Grover (from McGinty) and Martin scored to push the lead to 6-2 in the 59th minute. de Jong scored her goal in the 80th minute.
 
In goal, Rust logged 71 minutes. Grace Kuropatkin finished up, recording one save. Blair had eight saves in the first half for Waynesburg. Kennedy Shuck played in the second half with six saves and three goals allowed. The WB Yellow Jackets are 4-3. Waynesburg entered the game having won four of its last five.
