With her eight-point performance Deleva now has 106 career points, joining Catherine Brady '12 as the only two players to reach the century mark for career points. In addition to her career milestone, Deleva also set a pair of single-season records as she became the first player in program history to score 50 points in a season, while also breaking her own mark of 36 goals in one season that she had set as a freshman in 2016.
Deleva now has 55 points this season to go along with her 38 goals. Earlier this season she had already set the single-season assist record and currently has 17 for her season while extending he already existing career record to 30 career assists.
In addition to Deleva's eight-point game, Maritime also got six goals from junior Catherine
Pfundstein (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) as she reaches six goals for the second time this season. Pfundstein now has 32 goals on the year to place her in the top-five in single-season goal-scoring; her 36 points also puts her fourth on the single-season points list.
The Privateers also got four goals and one assist from freshman Sara Wright (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip), who dominated on draw controls once again with 14 draw controls on the afternoon. Junior Ciara Murphy (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) had one goal and one assist while scooping up a team-high seven ground balls and was tied with Wright for the team lead with three caused turnovers.
Junior Courntney Salatto had two caused turnovers on the defensive side of the ball and picked up two ground balls. Pfundstein and senior Jessica Yee (Freehold, N.J./Freehold) also forced turnovers on the afternoon. In goal, senior Shannon Brady (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) made her second career start and made nine stops while picking up two loose balls.
Old Westbury jumped on the board first with a goal just 21 seconds into the game, but Deleva scored on a free-position shot just over a minute later. After the Panthers scored the next three goals Deleva added another free-position goal before Pfundstein scored the next two to even the score at four.
After a goalless drought for both teams, Pfundstein scored with 10 minutes left off a pass from Deleva to give Maritime its first lead of the game at 5-4. Wright extended the lead with a free-position goal just over a minute later. The Privateers closed out the first half on a 4-2 run including a last-second free-position goal from Wright as Maritime took a 10-6 lead into the halftime break.
Old Westbury opened the second half with a pair of unanswered goals before Wright struck with her 19th of the season to put Maritime back up by three. Old Westbury then rattled off seven unanswered goals to take its largest lead of the game at 15-11.
Wright put an end to the rally with her 20th of the season before the Panthers responded with a man-down goal. Deleva scored just over a minute later to pull Maritime back within three at 16-13. The Panthers were able to hold the Privateers to just three goals down the stretch, outscoring their guests in that span 5-3 to hold on for the 21-16 win.
Maritime (2-7, 0-4 Skyline) will return home on Saturday morning, when the Privateers close out their season on Reinhart Field with an 11 a.m. start against the Mount St. Vincent Dolphins.
