The Panthers opened up action with 8-1, 8-5 and 8-3 wins at first, second and third doubles, respectively. With the Panthers up 3-0 after doubles play and a comfortable lead in their corner, Purchase continued to dominate the courts in singles competition.
In singles, freshman Hope Crawford (Mamaroneck, NY) swept Peter Rasmussen, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 1 spot and sophomore James Ham (Rye, NY) recorded a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 position.
Sophomore Austin Schmitt (Hilton, NY) battled to an 8-6, 3-6, 14-12 win at third singles and junior Finbar Stuart (Woodstock, NY) defeated Kyle Conway, 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 4 spot. Juniors Brian Doherty (Mattituck, NY) and Changhun Park (Seoul, Korea) rounded out the Panther scoring with wins at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
The Panthers are back on the road this Saturday to take on the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Match start is set for 11 a.m.
