Jeremy Mowrey Scores With 1:54 Left in Regulation to Give Fighting Tigers Non-League Road Win

Bronx, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team continued their early season string of road games on Wednesday afternoon battling through high winds that were battering the New York metropolitan area to post a dramatic 7-6 decision over the host Dolphins of The College of Mount Saint Vincent in a non-conference contest played at Gaelic Park. With the win the Fighting Tigers even their overall record at 3-3 on the season while the Dolphins are now 1-5 overall with the loss.
 
Cobleskill dominated the early going scoring the game's first four goals leading 4-1 at the end of the first quarter and 5-2 at the half. Then after leading 6-3 going into the final quarter the host Dolphins scored three quick goals to tie the contest at 6-6 with 4:45 left in regulation.  
 
With weather conditions breaking down and overtime looming; senior attackman Jeremy Mowrey, Johnstown, N.Y., Johnstown High School/Herkimer Community College, broke through the St. Vincent defense to score with 1:54 remaining to give the Orange & Black the lead for good at 7-6, as the team's defense defended a Dolphin shot and forced a turnover to secure the win.
 
The tandem of Jeremy Mowrey and junior midfielder Jake McCarthy, Kings Park, N.Y., Kings Park High School, proved lethal for the visitors with each scoring three goals and passing out an assist to lead the way offensively while junior attackman Sean Degnan, Monroe, N.Y., Monroe-Woodbury High School, added a goal to the victory totals.  
 
Cobleskill also received strong defensive efforts from freshman defender Nick Dominic, Pittsford, N.Y., Pittsford High School, who disrupted the Dolphin attack all afternoon forcing eight turnovers and picking up six ground balls while junior goalie Willie Wilson, Geneva, N.Y., Geneva High School/Tompkins-Cortland Community College, recorded six saves in the win.

Cobleskill Baseball Falls to Marywood Pacers 8-1 & 7-3 in Non-Conference Play

Scranton, Pa.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's baseball team once again took to the road on Thursday afternoon traveling to Marywood University for a pair of non-conference games. The Fighting Tigers were swept by the Pacers in doubleheader action by scores of 8-1 and 7-3. With the losses the Fighting Tigers are now currently 1-13 overall while the Pacers move to 9-7 on the campaign.
 
In the first game, Fighting Tiger pitchers walked eight batters which led to six of the Pacers eight runs with Cobleskill junior Jordyn Schwark, Kingston, N.Y., Kingston High School/Adirondack Community College, absorbing the loss allowing four runs in five innings of work striking out seven and walking six.
 
The lone run for the Orange & Black came when freshman shortstop Jacob Hoffee, Lyndonville, N.Y., Lyndonville High School, doubled home his double play partner second baseman Zyere Molinaro, Summit, N.Y., Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, who had previously doubled. Hoffee finished the game 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and a RBI while Molinaro was 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored for the visitors.
 
In the nightcap, the Fighting Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning capitalizing on a pair of singles by second baseman Zyere Molinaro and shortstop Jacob Hoffee. The pair then worked a perfect double steal which resulted in them both scoring on a defensive miscue by the Pacer outfield. Molinaro finished the day 2-for-3 with a run scored and a pair of stolen bases with Hoffee finishing the game at 1-for-4 along with two stolen bases.
 
The Orange & Black also received strong efforts at the plate from freshman third baseman Eddy Garcia, Bronx, N.Y., World View High School, who was 2-for-3 and from freshman catcher Corey Tingo, Selden, N.Y., Newfield High School, who was also 2-for-3 with a stolen base.
 
However the home team scored the next seven runs of the game as Fighting Tiger pitching allowed eight hits, seven walks and a hit batsman to the home team. 
 
Cobleskill is tentatively scheduled to next be in action on Saturday April 7^th when they, weather and field conditions permitting, are scheduled to host the Mountaineers of Southern Vermont College for a pair of non-league games beginning at 12:00 p.m.

SUNY Cobleskill Men's Soccer Drops 2-1 Heartbreaker at Penn State Abington in NEAC Action

Abington, Pa. - The SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team was out battled by conference power Penn State Abington on Saturday afternoon in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action by a 2-1 margin. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 4-5-1 overall including a 3-3-1 record versus league opponents while the Nittany Lions now move to 8-1 overall with a perfect 7-0 record in conference play.

Trailing 1-0 in the first half Cobleskill tied the contest at 1-1 when senior defender Corey Johnson, Brooklyn, N.Y., Abraham Lincoln High School, hit a perfectly placed shot to the lower left corner of the net in the 40th minute of play.

From there both sides play strategic soccer and the contest turned into a defensive struggle until in the 67th minute when senior forward Richard Domico, Langhorne, Pa., Neshaminy High School, scored in the box to give the Nittany Lions a 2-1 lead which turned into the final margin of victory.

Bayuk, Tommell and Porter Crack Top 10 to Lead Fighting Tigers to Victory

Milton, N.Y. - The SUNY Cobleskill women's cross country team ran to victory on Saturday posting their first invitational win of the season as the Fighting Tigers accumulated a team total of 92 points to outdistance a field of 28 teams at the 2016 Mount Saint Mary's College Invitational hosted by the Blue Knights at The Hudson Valley Sports Dome on Saturday.

Freshman Emma Bayuk, Sandy Hook, Conn., Newtown High School, continued her stellar rookie season placing second overall in the 168 runner field by covering the 6000-meter course in a time of 24:23 followed by her senior teammate Taylor Tommell, Guilderland, N.Y., Guilderland High School, who placed fourth overall in a time of 24:58 with sophomore Quinn Porter, Ballston Spa, N.Y., Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School, taking seventh place in a time of 25:59.

Rounding out the scoring for the Orange & Black were freshman Abigail O'Brien, Stockton, N.Y., Cassadaga Valley High School, who placed 31^st in 28:20 and senior Alyssa Riewerts, Lindenhurst, N.Y., Lindenhurst High School, in 54^th place in 29:43.

The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Saturday October 15 when they travel to Springfield, Mass. for the 2016 Western New England College invitational hosted by Western New England College at the school's campus cross country course beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Anthony Bouchard Wins Individual Title at 2016 MSMC Invitational

Milton, N.Y.: -The SUNY Cobleskill men's cross country team recorded their first invitational victory of the season on Saturday as the Fighting Tigers posted a team total of 41 points to easily outdistance a field of 26 teams at the 2016 Mount Saint Mary's College Invitational hosted by the Blue Knights at The Hudson Valley Sports Dome on Saturday.

Junior Anthony Bouchard, Wantagh, N.Y., Wantagh High School, led the way for the Orange & Black winning his first intercollegiate invitational by covering the 8000-meter multi-loop course in a time of 27:38 to defeat a field of 148 runners.

Cobleskill then packed it up to round out their team scoring with: junior Zach Jacobson, Berkshire, N.Y., Newark Valley High School, placing eighth in 28:57, freshman Willie Griffin, Schoharie, N.Y., Schoharie High School, placing ninth in 29:03, junior Joseph Fitzgerald, Washingtonville, N.Y., Washingtonville High School, taking 11^th place overall in 29:11 and sophomore Josh Foust, Averill Park, N.Y., Averill Park High School, finishing in 14^th place in a time of 29:18.

Fighting Tiger Softball Loses Twice to SUNY Poly Wildcats at Home on Sunday

Cobleskill Bats Go Cold in NEAC Doubleheader to Visiting Wildcats

Cobleskill, N.Y. - The SUNY Cobleskill women's softball team closed out their weekend series versus the visiting Wildcats of SUNY Polytechnic Institute on Sunday afternoon at Fighting Tiger Park by dropping a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contests to their guests by scores of 13-1 and 12-0. The losses drop the Fighting Tigers to 2-20 overall with a 2-12 conference record while the Wildcats even their overall record at 13-13 including a 9-3 mark in NEAC action.

The Fighting Tiger offense failed to provide much firepower over the course of the afternoon as the Orange & Black were held to only two hits in the opener then fared no better in the night cap as they were no-hit for the second time this season.

Cobleskill scored their only run of the day in the bottom of the third inning of game one when junior first baseman Jessica DeVoe, Gloversville, N.Y., Gloversville High School, led off with a double to center then scored with one out when freshman catcher Gabrielle Danthine, Schoharie, N.Y., Schoharie High School, laced a double off the left field fence.

The team will return to action on Friday April 29^th when they travel to Cazenovia, N.Y. to face the Wildcats of Cazenovia College for a pair of NEAC games beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Marcy, N.Y. - The SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team once again found the road a rough place to be on Wednesday evening as the Fighting Tigers dropped a 16-6 decision to North Eastern Athletic Conference (ECAC) rival SUNY Polytechnic on the Wildcats home turf. The loss drops Cobleskill to 3-8 overall on the year with a 1-4 conference record while the Wildcats improve to 5-8 overall with a 3-2 mark in NEAC play.

Once again the Fighting Tigers struggled with turnovers as the Orange & Black had 30 in the contest which led to the Wildcats posting a lopsided 60-to-15 advantage in shots for the game.

Senior attackman Alex Acompora, Harrison, N.Y., Harrison High School, continued his stellar offensive season with a pair of goals and a pair of assists on the day to go with four ground balls while freshman midfielder Javia Ludgood, Rochester, N.Y., Greece-Arcadia High School, also posted a pair of goals in the contest.

Cobleskill will next return to action on Friday April 22 when they travel to Bryn Athyn, N.Y. to meet Bryn Athyn College in NEAC action with face-off scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

With the victories Cobleskill improves to 2-16 overall including a 2-10 mark in league action while the Mustangs fall to 6-18 overall with a 2-10 record versus NEAC opponents.

Casey Haughney Extends Hitting Streak to Seven Games

Purchase, N.Y. - The SUNY Cobleskill women's softball dropped a pair of non-league road contests on Tuesday as the Fighting Tigers fell to the host Panthers of SUNY Purchase by scores of 13-2 and 9-1. With the losses the Fighting Tigers drop to 0-16 overall on the season to date while the host Panthers improve to 17-9 on the campaign.

In the opener the Panthers used an eight-run second inning to put the contest out of reach as Purchase hitters ripped Fighting Tiger pitchers for 12 hits including six for extra base hits.

Offensively Cobleskill sophomore shortstop Jaimee Lord, Mechanicville, N.Y., Ballston Spa High School, was 1-for-3 with an RBI while freshman second baseman Georgianna Crisci, Walden, N.Y., Valley Central High School, was 2-for-3 on the afternoon.

In the second game, the Fighting Tigers defense once again failed to impress as the Orange & Black committed five errors in the game which led to five Panther tallies.

Junior designated hitter Casey Haughney, Melrose, N.Y., Hoosic Valley High School, stretched her current hitting streak to seven games going 1-for -2 at the plate with a double and the team's lone run batted in. Junior center fielder Gabriella Barilli, Bellerose, N.Y., Sacred Heart Academy, was also a factor in the game with the bat going 2-for-3 with a run scored to cap a 3-for-5 day at the plate.

Cobleskill, N.Y. - After a strong opening quarter versus North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) leading Keuka College the SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team saw the visiting Wolfpack respond to a 2-2 tie with a 14-0 run over the next two quarters on their way to a 19-5 victory at the Soccer/Lax Complex on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 3-7 overall on the year with a 1-3 conference record while the Wolfpack improves to 8-1 overall including a perfect NEAC record of 4-0 on the season to date.

Fighting Tiger Freshman Places 18th in Decathlon at Mondshein Multi-Events Meet

Kutztown, Pa.- SUNY Cobleskill freshman decathlete Zach Haskins, Warnerville, N.Y., Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, posted a score of 5409 points to place 18^th overall at the 2016 Mondshein Multi-Events Meet hosted by Kutztown University on Thursday April 14 and Friday April 15.

Looking to improve his standing for the New York State College Track Conference (NYSCTC) Haskins finished sixth of the 11 NCAA Division III participants in the field and 18^th of the 28 competitors originally entered in the meet which featured athletes from all three NCAA Divisions of competition.

The Fighting Tigers will next be in action as a team today, Saturday April 16^th when they travel to Troy, N.Y. for the 2016 Upstate Invitational hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) at the Engineers' Harkness Field beginning at 9:00 a.m.

SUNY Cobleskill Softball Swept at Sage College 14-1 & 14-2 in Non-League Action

Troy, N.Y. - The SUNY Cobleskill women's softball team's recent woes continued on Thursday afternoon as the Fighting Tigers dropped a pair of non-conference contests to the host Gators of Sage College at Robinson Field by scores of 14-1 and 14-2. With the losses Cobleskill falls to 0-10 overall on the season while Sage improves to 16-10 overall.

In the opener the visitors could manage only one run as freshman second baseman Georgianna Crisci, Walden, N.Y., Valley Central High School, drove in junior center fielder Gabriella Barilli, Bellerose, N.Y., Sacred Heart Academy, in the fourth inning who had reached on an error and stolen second base. Crisci was 1-for-2 in the contest notching her teams only hit.

In the second game the Gators scored early and often using a seven run second inning to put the game out of reach. For the second game Sage notched 14 hits for a total of 26 hits in both ends of the doubleheader.

Hunt Seat Equestrian Team Ties for Fifth Place at Morrisville State Show

Morrisville, N.Y. - The SUNY Cobleskill hunt seat equestrian team posted a team total of 25 points to place tied for fifth overall in a 11 team field at the season's final regular season Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 2 Region 3 show hosted by the Mustangs of Morrisville State College at their College Equestrian Center.

The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Saturday April 2^nd when they travel to Saratoga Springs, N.Y. to compete in 2016 IHSA Zone 2 Region 3 Finals hosted by Skidmore College at the Van Lennep Riding Center beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Men's Soccer Loses to Visiting Green Mountain College 4-2 in Non-League Action

Cobleskill, N.Y. - The SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team could not hold an early two-goal advantage and ended up on the losing end of a 4-2 decision to visiting Green Mountain College in non-league action on Wednesday afternoon. The loss keeps the Fighting Tigers winless on the year with a 0-12 overall mark while the Eagles with the victory move to 1-12 overall on the campaign.

Cobleskill got off to a quick start when freshman forward Todd Briggs, Mayfield, N.Y., Mayfield High School, scored a pair of near identical goals in the 4^th and 14^th minutes of play on assists from freshman midfielder Andrew Potter, Truxton, N.Y., Homer High School, and sophomore midfielder Alex VanFleet, Horseheads, N.Y., Horseheads High School, to make it 2-0 in favor of the Orange & Black.

However the Eagles then took advantage of several calls to convert on restart opportunities with sophomore midfielder Nazar Zhukovskyy, Stamford, Conn., Stamford High School, converting on a penalty kick in the 23^rd minute followed by a goal from junior defender Ryan Crozier, Olmsted Township, Ohio, Olmsted Falls High School, off a direct kick in the 31^st minute.

The Eagles then took the lead for good in the 40^th minute of play when senior midfielder Nate Laymon, Ilion, N.Y., Ilion High School, blasted home a direct kick to make it 3-2 at the half in favor of the visitors. Laymon then scored an insurance goal in the second half at the 66^th minute of play to put the game out of reach at 4-2.

Cobleskill will return to action on Saturday October 17^th when they travel to Keuka Park, N.Y. to face the Storm of Keuka College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Women's Soccer Downed 5-1 By SUNY Polytechnic Wildcats in NEAC Action

Marcy, N.Y. - The SUNY Cobleskill women's soccer team dropped a 5-1 decision to host SUNY Polytechnic Institute on Saturday afternoon in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 0-10 overall on the season including a 1-5 mark in league play while the Wildcats move to 6-3-2 overall with a 4-1-1 mark in conference play.

Freshman forward Kimberly Sullivan, Dedham, Mass., Norfolk County Agricultural High School, scored Cobleskill's lone goal on the afternoon on a break-a-way in the ninth minute of play.

The Orange & Black will return to action after the college's fall break on Saturday October 17^th for a NEAC match-up with the Wolfpack of Keuka College with kick-off scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

Marcy, N.Y. - The road once again proved to be a rough one for the SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team on Saturday as the visiting Fighting Tigers could not overcome a powerful effort from host SUNY Polytechnic Institute falling to the Wildcats by a 7-0 margin in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. The loss drops Cobleskill to 0-11 overall on the season including a 0-6 mark in league play while SUNY Poly moves to 7-4-1 overall with a 4-2 conference record.

The Fighting Tigers allowed five goals in the first half which sealed the contest's outcome as Cobleskill was once again outshot on the day by a 28-5 tally and dominated in the corner kicks area by hosts by the tune of 17-to-1.

Cobleskill will return to action after the college's fall break when they host the Eagles of Green Mountain College on Wednesday October 14^th with kick-off at 4:00 p.m.

Cobleskill Falls to 1-10 Overall on Season With Shutout Loss to Panthers

Albany, New York - The SUNY Cobleskill women's soccer team took to the road on Thursday afternoon to face the Panthers of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in non-league action. The visiting Fighting Tigers ended up on the losing end of a 9-0 tally to the home squad. With the defeat the Cobleskill record falls to 1-9 overall on the season while the host Panthers improve to 9-3 overall on the year.

Sophomore goalkeeper Sabrina Adams, Oswego, N.Y., Mexico High School, did make a career high of 27 saves in net for the Orange & Black in defeat on the afternoon.

Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday October 10^th when they return to North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action versus host SUNY Polytechnic Institute in league action beginning at 2:00 p.m. 

Men's Soccer Loses to Southern Vermont College 2-1 in Overtime

Cobleskill, N.Y. - Lady Luck did not shine on the SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team on Tuesday afternoon as the Fighting Tigers dropped their second consecutive 2-1 overtime home decision this time to the Mountaineers of Southern Vermont College (SVC) in non-league action at the Soccer/Lacrosse Complex. The loss keeps Cobleskill winless on the season at 0-10 on the campaign while SVC now improves to 2-9 overall on the year.

The Mountaineers struck first in the 23^rd minute of play when freshman forward Nikolas Joseph, Coventry, Conn., Coventry High School, scored off a pass in the box from senior defender James Tschinkel, Freehold, N.Y., Greenville High School, to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage.

The Fighting Tigers, who once again failed to convert on several point blank opportunities, tied the contest in dramatic fashion in the 81^st minute when freshman defender Jacob Darling, Schenevus, N.Y., Schenevus High School, scored from straight on the net on a blast from 40-yards out to tie the contest at 1-1.

Over the last nine minutes of the game each team's goalkeeper; Cobleskill's freshman Tanner Puff, Wallkill, N.Y., Wallkill High School, and SVC's Noah Chani, Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Hoosick Falls High School, each made multiple point blank saves to keep the contest tied sending it into overtime knotted at 1-1. Puff finished the afternoon with 12 saves while Chani stopped seven shots on the day.

The Mountaineers finally scored the game winner in the 95^th minute on a well-executed set piece when off a direct kick Nikolas Joseph made a perfect pass to freshman midfielder Anthony Dominguez, Los Angeles, Calf., Nogales High School, who promptly found the back of the home team's net to decide the issue.

The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Saturday October 10^th when they travel to Utica, N.Y. to face the Wildcats of SUNY Polytechnic Institute in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action beginning at 12:00 p.m. while SVC will next host Becker College on Saturday in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Taylor Tommell Named NEAC Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week For Fighting Tigers

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced today that SUNY Cobleskill junior Taylor Tommell, Guilderland, N.Y., Guilderland High School has been named the league's Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for the week ending Sunday, October 4^th. This marks the sixth time in her career and second time this season that the Guilderland, N.Y. native has been honored by the conference with the award.

The junior harrier led the Fighting Tigers to a second place finish with a score of 69 points against a field of 14 team's at the Seventh Annual Cazenovia College Homecoming Invitational on Saturday at Janesville Beach Park in Janesville, N.Y. Tommell finished in third place versus the 91 runners in the race by covering the 5750 meter course in a time of 23:48.

The Orange & Black will return to action after the college's fall break when they travel to Clinton, N.Y. for the 2015 New York State College Track Conference Meet hosted by Hamilton College on the college's cross country course beginning at 11:00 a.m.
