Cobleskill, N.Y. - After a strong opening quarter versus North
Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) leading Keuka College the SUNY
Cobleskill men's lacrosse team saw the visiting Wolfpack respond to a
2-2 tie with a 14-0 run over the next two quarters on their way to a
19-5 victory at the Soccer/Lax Complex on Saturday afternoon. The loss
drops the Fighting Tigers to 3-7 overall on the year with a 1-3
conference record while the Wolfpack improves to 8-1 overall including a
perfect NEAC record of 4-0 on the season to date.
Key to the
Keuka victory was the fact that the Wolfpack outshot the Fighting Tigers
by a 44-to-20
margin, forced 26 Cobleskill turnovers compared to only
11 of their own, took the groundball total by a 43-to-29 margin and won
the battle of the face-off circle by a 16-to-11 tally.
Freshman attackman Sean Degnan, Monroe, N.Y., Monroe-Woodbury High School, scored twice for the Orange & Black in the game while senior attackman Alex Acompora,
Harrison, N.Y., Harrison High School, had a goal and an assist on the
afternoon. Cobleskill also received solo goals from sophomore midfielder
Kyle Magdziuk, Syracuse, N.Y., Westhill High School, and freshman attackman Garrett Vigrass, Wallkill, N.Y., Wallkill High School.
The Fighting Tigers will next take to the field on Wednesday April 20th when they travel to Marcy, N.Y. to face the Wildcats of SUNY Polytechnic in NEAC play beginning at 5:00 p.m.
