William Smith wraps up its spring break trip with a 1-1 record. The Herons are 8-2 in their last 10 matches in the Sunshine State.
Colorado College took a 2-1 lead at the conclusion of doubles play. Allie Burak and Jenna McDonald won 8-4 in the top spot while Annie Zlevor and Caroline James won 8-2 at No. 2. The William Smith first-year team of Charlotte Engebrecht and Katelyn Nguyen topped Madison Doerre and Simone Hal 8-5 at No. 3. Engebrecht and Nguyen are now 2-0 while playing together.
The Tigers clinched the match with four singles matches. William Smith earned a pair of singles victories to finish the match with three points. Sophomore Kate Foley rallied to win her match in the third spot with Tess Rubin in a super tiebreaker, 1-6, 6-4, 10-4. Foley is now 5-2 on the year, including a team-best 2-1 record in the third spot. Senior Michaelann Denton collected her second straight win, knocking off Jenna McDonald 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2. With the win, Denton improves to 5-5 on the season and 2-1 at No. 2.
The Herons will be back in action on Sunday, today, March 25, when they host Stevens. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 am. In Bristol Field House.
