No. 14 Messiah slows Women’s Lacrosse, 14-6

Ally Ruggieri scored three goals for Buffalo State
GRANTHAM, Pa.— Buffalo State entered today's (March 27th) game with the fourth-ranked offense in the nation averaging 19.0 goals-per-game, but No. 14 Messiah grounded the visiting Bengals' attack and posted a 14-6 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Ally Ruggieri (Brockport/Brockport) netted three goals and added an assist to lead Buffalo State.
  • Christina Krowel (Amsterdam/B.H.-B.L.) had two goals and an assist, and Kendall Skuse (Churchville/Churchville-Chili) also scored and grabbed six ground balls.
  • Jackie Dufresne (Lake View/Frontier) picked up a pair of assists and had six draw controls.
  • The Falcons controlled the first half, outshooting the Bengals 20-4, and jumped out to an 11-2 lead.
  • Buffalo State battled hard in the second half, posting a 4-3 scoring advantage, but it was never able to climb back in the game.
  • Messiah finished with a 35-10 advantage in shots and forced 29 Buffalo State turnovers, while committing just 17.
  • Elyse Stark (Lido Beach/Long Beach) made eight saves in the loss.
 
FOR THE FOES

  • Jamie Bishop tallied five points on three goals and two assists to lead a balanced Messiah attack.
