Sandorfi Records Five Assists in Win at Western Connecticut

Danbury, Conn. - Farmingdale State sophomore attack AJ Sandorfi (Lynbrook, N.Y.) recorded six points, including a season-high five assists, in the Rams 12-6 non-conference win over Western Connecticut last night. The FSC men's lacrosse team improved to 5-4 overall, while the Colonials dropped to 3-4.

Junior attack Shane Clark (Oceanside, N.Y.) opened the scoring for Farmingdale State just 7:35 into the game off the feed from Sandorfi. The score remained 1-0 until FSC sophomore midfielder Dylan Fitzgerald (Farmingdale, N.Y.) set up freshman attack Connor Dalton (Hicksville, N.Y.) for a goal with 11 seconds left in the first quarter.

Leading 3-0 after junior midfielder Conor McAvoy (East Setauket, N.Y.) netted a goal early in the second, Western Connecticut sophomore attack Eric Caldwell (East Moriches, N.Y.) registered an unassisted score to cut the deficit to two. With only 17 seconds remaining in the half, Rams freshman midfielder John Feiner (Farmingdale, N.Y.) tallied his second goal of the season to regain a three-goal advantage, 4-1, heading into the break.

In the third quarter, FSC outscored the Colonials 4-1 as Sandorfi assisted on goals by McAvoy, Clark and Fitzgerald before scoring a goal of his own to extend the lead to six, 8-2.

After trading goals early in the fourth, the Colonials produced back-to-back scores only nine seconds apart to close within four, 10-6, with 9:44 left. Farmingdale State would answer with goals bysenior attack Jake Borresen (East Meadow, N.Y.) and senior defender Nick Capone (West Islip, N.Y.) to go up by six. The Rams would hold Western Connecticut to just one shot on goal the rest of the way as they earned the non-conference victory, 12-6.

Clark finished with three goals, including FSC's first man-down goal of the year, and a game-high four ground balls, while McAvoy and Dalton each scored twice.

For Western Connecticut, junior attack Robby Swensen (Danbury, Conn.) recorded a team-high two goals.
