Men's Golf Ninth at NYU Spring Invitational

Wong was NYU's low scorer on Saturday.

The New York University men's golf team is in ninth place after round one of the NYU Spring Invitational, which was held on Saturday, April 9, at the Forest Hills Field Club in Bloomfield, NJ.

The Violets shot 321 overall, finishing ahead of Clarkson University (325) and Farmingdale State University (332). In spite of being on the outside of the top five, NYU is only five spots away from third-place Stevens Institute of Technology (316). Skidmore College leads the 11-team tournament after shooting 299 on Saturday.

NYU freshman Qizhi Wong is in a seven-way tie for 15th place with his NYU-low score of 78.

Mavs comes in ninth at Elmira Invitational

ELMIRA, NY - The Medaille College Golf Team participated in the Elmira Fall Invitational this afternoon in their final tournament before the AMCC Championships.

Medaille, who was playing in the tournament and at Elmira Country Club for the first time had a rough afternoon shooting a season high (371) team score to finish in ninth place out of a field of ten.

SUNY Delhi won the tournament with a score (322).

Wyatt Gorham of SUNY Cobleskill won medalist honors with a (74).

Senior Austin Ford (Tonawanda, NY, Kenmore East) had the low score for the Mavericks, he carded two birdies on the day and finished with an (86).

The Mavericks will wrap up their regular season on Friday when they play D'Youville College in a match at Sheridan Park in their final tune-up before the Allegheny Mountain Conference Championships this Sunday and Monday.

The two-day event will be hosted by La Roche College at Avalon Country Club in Youngstown, PA.

Morrisville State golfers 7th at Elmira College Fall Invitational

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men's golf team wrapped up the Fall 2015 segment of their schedule Tuesday afternoon, finishing 7^th overall out of 10 competing teams at the Elmira College Fall Invitational held at the Elmira Country Club.

Morrisville State compiled a team score of 343 strokes on the 6,687 yard, 72-par course.

Brandon Davis (Fayetteville, N.Y.) and Darren Young (Woodstock, Ontario) led the Mustangs with a 15^th individual finish, each shooting a round of 83 on the day, while Cody Holmes (Fort Ann, N.Y.) finished just four strokes behind, tying for 27^th individually.

Layne Martin (Findlay, Ohio) finished in 34^th overall position, shooting +18 on the day, while Tyler Lepore (London, Ontario) rounded out team scoring, registering an individual round score of 110 to tie for 49^th.

Elmira won the event, placing two golfers in the top five of the invitational, compiling a team score of 330 strokes.

Morrisville State will resume action in the spring.

Men’s Golf Concludes Fall Season at Elmira

ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Golf team concluded their 2015 fall season on Tuesday afternoon at the Elmira College Fall Golf Invitational.

Nic Romano led a team consisting of all freshmen for the Wolfpack. He shot a 91 at Elmira Country Club, finishing in a tie for 36th place. Lucas Labuski and Brendon Schlafer  tied for 43rd place with a 98.  was tied with Doremus after round one, but ended up six strokes behind him in third place for the Wolfpack.  Austin Steere and Ben Cacciaglia shot a 100 and 110, respectively.

As a team, Keuka College finished with a score of 387 strokes, finishing 10th in the tournament

SUNY Cobleskill's Ian Wilson Named ECAC Division III Covias Men's Golfer-of-the-Month for September

Danbury, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced Monday that  SUNY Cobleskill junior Ian Wilson, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Spackenkill High School, has been named the ECAC Division III Corvias Men's Co-Golfer-of-the-Month for September of 2015. Wilson becomes the first Fighting Tiger men's golfer to be honored with the award in program history.

Wilson went on a tear through September, winning three events and finishing as runner-up in two others. The junior began the month by finishing second at the Johnson State College Invitational, then followed that up by claiming the individual title at the St. Lawrence University Invitational with a score of 143. His two-day total set a new record for best two-day score in program history, while his first-day score of 4-under 68 established a new school record for lowest single-round score. After finishing in a tie for first at the Utica College Invitational later in the month, the Spackenkill High School-product closed out September with another individual medal when he triumphed at the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Fall Challenge. During the month he was also named the NEAC Golfer-of-the-Week three times for his efforts.

Cobleskill will next be in action on Tuesday October 6^th to compete in the Elmira College Fall Invitational hosted by the Soaring Eagles at the par 72/6747 yard Elmira Country Club in Elmira, N.Y.

Oswego Claims Fourth Place at ECACs

VICTOR, N.Y. – The Oswego State golf team shot its best round of the year, scoring a 300 (+12) on the final day of the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championship for a two-round total of 618 (+42). That total had the Lakers finish in fourth place in the 12-team field, up two spots from their position after Saturday's round. St. John Fisher College won the event with a team score of 583, while St. Lawrence University and Marywood University finished tied for second just one stroke ahead of Oswego.

Dan North, who tied for the team-lead on Saturday, shaved five strokes off his score on Sunday, shooting an even-par 72. The senior's two-day total of 149 was good for a top-10 finish with a tie for sixth place.

Next on the leaderboard for Oswego was Zachary Hiris, who knocked two strokes off his Saturday total for a Sunday 75. His cumulative score of 152 gave the sophomore sole possession of 11th place.

Senior Tyler Wurzer had the Lakers' next best score, taking the most strokes of his Saturday score, eliminating 11 for a two-over 74 on Sunday.

Oswego will return to the links at 10 a.m. on Tuesday when it takes part in the 44th Elmira College Invitational, which was rescheduled from last week.
