Chargers Down Wolves in Straight Sets

LANCASTER, Pa. — The Keuka College Men's Volleyball team lost straight sets in a North Eastern Athletic Conference match at Lancaster Bible College on Friday night.

Chris Corcoran had 14 assists for Keuka College (6-15, 2-5 NEAC). Christian Nickerson finished with a pair of blocks for Keuka and JP Nery led the team with five kills.

Lancaster Bible College 3 vs. Keuka College 0 – 25-10, 25-14, 25-18

The Chargers slowly built their lead throughout the first set. A 6-0 run by Lancaster Bible extended their lead to 20-7. The Wolves had 10 errors and just three kills in the frame as Keuka lost the opening set 25-10.

Keuka College kept it close as a kill by JP Nery cut the deficit to two points at 9-7. However, Lancaster Bible would go on to score 10 of the next 11 points to extend their margin. The Chargers took a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-14 second set victory.

After Keuka scored the opening point, Lancaster Bible College converted eight straight to take the lead. The Chargers would ride that momentum to a 25-18 victory, sweeping the match 3-0.

Keuka College Softball Swept at Penn St.-Berks

READING, Pa. — The Keuka College Softball team lost a pair of games on Saturday afternoon at Penn St.-Berks in a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader.

Keuka College (1-7, 0-2 NEAC) lost the opener 7-1 and fell in the nightcap to the Nittany Lions 6-1.

Penn St.-Berks 7 vs. Keuka College 1

Penn St.-Berks struck first on Saturday as they got an RBI single in the bottom of the second for a 1-0 lead. They added four runs in the bottom of the fourth before Keuka College got on the board.

Maddie Dupuis singled down the left field line to score Brittany Vergason in the top of the fifth inning. Berks responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning as they defeated Keuka College 7-1 in Game 1.

Lead Wolf: Mickenzie Palmer singled in the sixth inning for Keuka College. It was the 100th hit of her career.

Penn St.-Berks 6 vs. Keuka College 1

The Nittany Lions got a solo home run in the first inning for the 1-0 lead. Keuka College tied it in the third. Jessie Hammers singled to center. With two outs, Hammers scored from first as Mickenzie Palmer doubled to right for the Wolves. She would be stranded at third in the inning, but the game was tied at 1-1.

A pair of doubles in the bottom of the third gave Berks a quick response as they plated three in the inning to take the lead back. The Nittany Lions added two insurance runs in the fifth on their way to the 6-1 victory.

Lead Wolf: Jessie Hammers had a pair of hits in the game for Keuka College.

• Penn St.-Berks took an 11-10 lead all-time against Keuka College in their first regular season meeting since the 2010 season
• Keuka College and Penn St.-Berks have met in the last two NEAC Championships with the home team winning each tournament (Keuka College in 2016, Penn St.-Berks in 2017)

Keuka College Falls to Medaille 13-4

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Keuka College Baseball team lost on Monday to Medaille College 13-4 in a non-conference game at Monroe Community College in Rochester, N.Y.

Keuka College (5-8) was led by Anthony Mashewske with three hits on the day. Sean Sheets added a pair of hits for the Wolves. Tyler Broderick tripled and Connor Siracusa doubled for Keuka in the loss.

Medaille College 13 vs. Keuka College 4

Medaille College struck first on Monday with a pair of runs in the first and three more in the second of an early lead. The Mavericks added to their lead with four runs in the third before the Wolves got on the board.

Tyler Broderick led the bottom of the third off with a triple over the centerfielder's head. He later scored on an RBI single by Dakota Skinner. Later in the inning, an RBI single by Sean Sheets plated Skinner to make it 9-2 Medaille.

The Mavericks answered with a run in the top of the fourth and three more insurance runs in the fifth. Keuka scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth but it was not enough as they fell to Medaille 13-4.

Keuka College Baseball Drops Two Games on Monday

AUBURNDALE, Fla. — The Keuka College Baseball team lost two games on Monday in Florida on their annual spring break trip.

Keuka College (4-6) fell 13-0 to #3 ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater in the first game and then lost to Franklin College 11-6 in the afternoon.

#3 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 13 vs. Keuka College 0

The Warhawks scored a run in the top of the first inning and proceeded to add to their lead in with two runs in each the second, third, and fourth innings. Keuka College was only able to get four hits off of the Warhawks' pitchers. Whitewater scored five runs in the fifth and added one more in the seventh in the 13-0 victory.

Lead Wolf: Both Kyle Colegrove and Tyler Freedman each recorded a hit in their one at-bat.

Franklin College 11 vs. Keuka College 6

The Wolves took a two-run lead in the second inning, but the Grizzlies scored five in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. The Wolves chipped away with a run in the third and then tied it with two runs in the fourth inning. Dakota Skinner singled home a run and the game was later tied on a Franklin error.

Keuka College took a 6-5 lead in the top of the fifth inning as Dave Verrett doubled home Jake Redding. Franklin would respond in the sixth inning as they scored a pair of runs to retake the lead. The Grizzlies then added four insurance runs in the seventh inning as they defeated Keuka College 11-6 in nine innings on Monday.

Lead Wolf: Zach Braster threw 2.2 innings of scoreless relief for Keuka College. The sophomore struck out three batters in the game.

• Keuka College is 0-2 all-time against Wisconsin-Whitewater
• The Wolves are 0-6 all-time against ranked teams. They last faced Whitewater when they were ranked #1 in the nation in 2015

Rizzo Hits for Cycle in Keuka College Sweep

AUBURNDALE, Fla. — Keuka College senior John Rizzo hit for the cycle in game one and followed that with a three-hit performance in the nightcap as Keuka College swept Juniata College in Florida on Friday.

Keuka College (3-3) won the opener against the Eagles 8-7 in eight innings on a walkoff single by Tyler Broderick. The Green and Gold then took game two over Juniata by the score of 17-7.

Rizzo led the offense with eight hits on the day. The senior had three singles, two doubles, two triples, and a home run combined in the two games. Dan Bamann had five hits on the day and Dakota Skinner drove in four runs for the Wolves.

Keuka College 8 vs. Juniata College 7 – 8 innings

John Rizzo led off the bottom of the first for Keuka College with a solo home run to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead. They extended the lead with a pair of runs in the third. Jake Redding came home on a Dakota Skinner sacrifice fly. Dan Bamann followed that with an RBI single, scoring Rizzo to make it 3-0.

Juniata College tied the game in the fourth with three unearned runs and then took a 4-3 in the fifth. Much like the third, Keuka College scored a pair in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly and single to reclaim a 5-4 lead. An unearned run tied the game in the sixth for the Eagles and the game would go to extra innings tied at 5-5.

The Eagles struck first in the top of the eighth with a two-run home run. Keuka College answered with a rally of their own in the bottom of the frame. Dakota Skinner provided an RBI single for the Wolves. Tyler Krowiak tied the game with a single later in the inning with an RBI single to tie the game. The next batter was Tyler Broderick. He singled on a 2-2 pitch to score Dakota Skinner and give the Wolves an 8-7 walkoff victory.

Lead Wolf: John Rizzo had a career game for the Wolves. The senior was 5-5 at the plate, hitting for the cycle, and adding a triple on top of that. He set a school record with 13 total bases.

Keuka College 17 vs. Juniata College 7

Hitting first in the top of the first inning, Keuka College took a quick 2-0 lead as Kyle Colegrove doubled to score Rizzo and Brooks Vertoske singled him home for the 2-0 advantage. The Eagles got one back in the bottom of the inning, but the Wolves added to their lead in the second.

Dakota Skinner plated two for the Wolves with a single. He then scored on a triple by Dan Bamann and Kyle Colegrove plated Bamann with a single. Keuka got two more runs on an error as they led 8-1.

The margin was cut down to three runs, 8-5, going into the top of the fourth inning. The Wolves scored five in the inning on RBI hits by Bamann, Anthony Mashewske, Dave Verrett, and John Rizzo. Keuka College carried that momentum to the 17-7 victory.

Lead Wolf: Dan Bamann followed up Rizzo's career performance in Game 1 with one of his own in Game 2. The junior finished a home run short of the cycle with a career-high four hits. His RBI triple was the first three-base hit of his career.

• Friday was the first ever games between Keuka College and Juniata College in baseball
• Keuka College is now 14-10-1 all-time in extra-inning games
• It was the first home run of Rizzo's career
• 21 hits by Keuka College in Game 2 ties for the sixth most in a game in program history
• Kevin Franz earned the win on the mound in Game 2. It was his 36th appearance in his career, tying for the most ever in school history

Wolves Earn First Victory of the Season in Overtime

COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Basketball team outscored SUNY Cobleskill 10-4 in overtime as they defeated the Fighting Tigers 84-78 on Saturday.

Keuka College (1-5, 1-1 NEAC) faces SUNY Poly on Sunday to conclude their North Eastern Athletic Conference weekend.

Cliff Stevens led Keuka with a career-high 22 points. He also grabbed 10 rebounds in the game. Fellow junior Dylan Doupe recorded the first double-double of the season for Keuka College with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Overall, Keuka had five players score 10 or more points. Trevor Powell had 16 points and Greg Tyler and Cameron Winston each added 10.

Cliff Stevens made the first two shots of the afternoon for Keuka College, both three points, as a part of an 8-0 run by the Wolves to start the game. Keuka College would grow their lead to 10 points, 15-5, but the Fighting Tigers responded. An 11-2 spurt by Cobleskill narrowed the margin to one point. SUNY Cobleskill was later able to tie the game, but each time Keuka had an answer. A late six point run, capped by a layup by Trevor Powell pushed Keuka's lead back to seven with two minutes left. At the half, the Wolves led the Fighting Tigers 38-33.

Keuka College had another hot start, scoring the first seven points in the second half to grow their lead to 45-33. The 12 point margin was the largest of the game. SUNY Cobleskill responded with a run of their own. After nine unanswered points, the difference was back to three points. Keuka remained ahead of SUNY Cobleskill until three minutes left. The Fighting Tigers had an 11-3 run, giving them a 68-67 lead with three minutes left. The Wolves responded as Stevens knocked down a pair of free throws. Cobleskill tied it up going to the final minute. Three times Keuka College went 1-2 from the line in an attempt to close out the game. The three point margin would be erased as SUNY Cobleskill hit a running three in the final seconds to force overtime with the game tied 74-74.

Twice SUNY Cobleskill took a one-point lead in the extra period, but the deficit would be quickly erased by Keuka. A layup by Cliff Stevens with under two minutes left to play gave Keuka a 79-78 lead, a lead they would not relinquish. The Wolves held SUNY Cobleskill just 2-8 from the floor in overtime as Keuka College continued onto the 84-78 conference victory.

Oswego State Tops Keuka College 6-1

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Keuka College Field Hockey team took an early lead over Oswego State, but the Lakers scored six unanswered goals to defeat the Wolves 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Wolves (0-5) will return home on Sunday as they host the Pioneers of Utica College at 1pm at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

Taylor Lessard netted her first collegiate goal in the first half. Brianna Coia earned the assist on the goal. Freshman Kassidy Valentine made 5 saves in the first half in her first collegiate start in goal. Aphiwe Joyisa recorded 7 saves in the second half in her first collegiate action.

The Wolves came out fast in the first half. They forced an early corner against the Lakers. Although the initial attempt was stopped, Keuka maintained possession in the offensive end. Brianna Coia knocked a loose ball to the left post where it was hit home by Lessard for the 1-0 lead six minutes into the game. Oswego State responded 15 minutes later with a goal to tie the game. They then took the lead as an attempted clear by the Wolves knocked off the referee's foot and right and right to Oswego State for the goal. The Lakers added a third in the half and led 3-1 at the break.

Keuka College started the second half strong against the Lakers. They possessed the ball in the offensive end and force a pair of corners. The Green and Gold found the back of the net but the goal was disallowed. Minutes later, Oswego State added their fourth of the game. The Lakers added two more goals on their way to the 6-1 victory over Keuka College.

Keuka College Tops Wilson College in NEACs

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Softball team won their opening game of the 2016 North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament on their home field against Wilson College. The Green and Gold defeated the Phoenix 4-0.

Keuka College (17-12) will now face Penn St.-Berks in the winners bracket final later in the day.
The Green and Gold was first to put a run on the board on Saturday. With one out, Alysha Bachman singled to center. After moving up on a wild pitch, a single up the middle by Jessica Parmiter left runners at the corners. An error by the Phoenix allowed Keuka to score, giving them the 1-0 advantage.

Keuka added to their lead in the fifth inning. Mackenzie Cole led it off by doubling off the top cap on the outfield fence. The next batter was Mickenzie Palmer. She had her third hit of the game with a double to left field to score Cole. Alysha Bachman added an RBI groundout for Keuka and Jessica Parmiter singled home a run for the 4-0 lead.

The lead would be more than enough for starting pitcher Liz Warren. She took a no-hitter into the sixth inning. The senior finished the complete game shutout allowing just three hits and striking out four.

Keuka College Softball Swept by Saxons

ALFRED, N.Y. – The Keuka College Softball team ended the regular season at Alfred University on Tuesday. The Green and Gold lost to the Saxons 3-2 and 6-3 in a pair of non-conference games.

Keuka College (16-12) will now prepare for the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament. Keuka will be the host school for the tournament that will run from Friday, May 6 through Sunday, May 8. Keuka's first game will be on Saturday at 11am when they play the winner of the game between Cazenovia College and Wilson College.

Keuka College Women’s Lacrosse Defeats Bryn Athyn 10-6

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Keuka College Women's Lacrosse team defeated hosts Bryn Athyn College 10-6 on Saturday in a North Eastern Athletic Conference matchup.

Keuka College (4-9, 2-5 NEAC) will remain on the road on Sunday, playing at Penn St.-Abington.
Sydney Forshay led Keuka in scoring with four goals and an assist on the afternoon. Kendall Neuberger added three goals and an assist. Morgan Bruno finished with a career-high five assists for Keuka. She also added a goal as did Samantha Stanio and Elizabeth Sherman.

Keuka got out to a fast start as Sydney Forshay scored 1:10 into the game. She found the back of the net again just over a minute later for the early 2-0 lead. The teams traded goals going into the break. The Lions got on the board, but Kendall Neuberger had an answer for Keuka halfway through the first. After a second Bryn Athyn goal, Sydney Forshay completed the hat trick and set Keuka into halftime leading 4-2.

Just 36 seconds into the second half, Kendall Neuberger scored. The Lions got one back a minute later and the game stayed at 5-3 for over 10 minutes in the second half. Keuka got the scoring going again with a goal by Elizabeth Sherman and Neuberger's third of the game less than a minute later. Bryn Athyn found the back of the net with 10 minutes left to play, but the three goal margin at 7-4 would be as close as they got it. Keuka scored a pair to push the lead to 9-4 and the Green and Gold continued onto the 10-6 victory.

Keuka College Softball Splits with Morrisville State

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Softball team split with Morrisville State on Saturday in a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader.

Keuka College (12-8, 10-2 NEAC) dropped the opening game in eight innings, 3-2. The Green and Gold bounced back in the nightcap, winning it 8-0.

Keuka will remain at home on Sunday as they host Cazenovia College at 1pm.

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Baseball team scored eight unanswered runs, but it was not enough as they fell to visiting Elmira College in a non-conference game.

Keuka College (12-11) is on the road this weekend for a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheaders. The Green and Gold will travel to Lancaster Bible College on Saturday. On Sunday, Keuka will be in Washington D.C. as they take on Gallaudet University.

Keuka College Tennis Drops Match to Oswego State

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Tennis team lost to Oswego State 9-0 in a non-conference match on Thursday afternoon.

Keuka College (1-11) will play their final match of the regular season on Friday, as they host Penn College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference match.

The Lakers controlled the match in both doubles and singles against the Green and Gold. The team of Peter Smock and Phuoc Mai won a team-best three games in their 8-3 defeat in first doubles.

In singles competitions, Keuka only won five games against Oswego State. Four of those came in Rich Matrassi's match in fifth singles where he lost 6-4, 6-0. Peter Smock won the only other game for Keuka in first singles.

Keuka College Women’s Tennis Drops NEAC Match at Wells

AURORA, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Tennis team lost to host Wells College 6-3 on Wednesday in a North Eastern Athletic Conference match.

Keuka College (2-7, 2-3 NEAC) will have their final home match of the season on Friday when they host Penn College at 4pm.

The tandem of Allison Williams and Melissa Mason provided Keuka with their scoring in the match. The duo combined in second doubles to defeat Wells' team 8-6.

In singles, Williams dropped only one game, winning second singles 6-1, 6-0. Melissa Mason also won her singles match at fourth singles. Although she dropped the first set 7-5, Mason rallied in the second, winning it 6-2 to force a 10-point tiebreaker. Mason controlled the extra frame, winning the tiebreaker 10-4. It would be the only two points Keuka would get in singles, however, as they fell to Wells College 6-3.

Keuka Baseball Earns a Split at Pitt.-Bradford

BRADFORD, Pa. – The Keuka College Baseball team earned a split against Pitt.-Bradford on Wednesday in a non-conference doubleheader.

Keuka College won the opening game 6-5, but fell in Game 2, 10-5.

Keuka College (12-10) will return home on Thursday for a non-conference game as they host Elmira College in a single, nine-inning game.

Keuka College Takes Two at Morrisville State

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Keuka College Softball team swept North Eastern Athletic Conference opponent Morrisville State College 5-1 and 10-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

Keuka College (10-6, 8-0) will remain on the road tomorrow as they face Penn College in an NEAC doubleheader in Williamsport, Pa.

Game 1
Keuka College's offense had only four hits in Game 1, but they were able to maximize their offense. Mackenzie Cole led off the game with a walk and stole second base. After moving to third, she scored on a groundout for the 1-0 lead. Katelyn Warren came to the plate with two outs and hit her second homerun of the season to make it 2-0.

Keuka College Men’s Tennis Swept at Oswego State

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Tennis team was swept by Oswego State on Tuesday in a non-conference match.

Keuka College (1-7) jumps right back into action tomorrow as they travel to Alfred University to face the Saxons.

The Green and Gold struggled to win games in every match on Tuesday. Peter Smock in first singles and Matt Van Valkenburg in sixth singles were the only players to win two games in singles competition.

Garrett Calton and Mason Record teamed up in second doubles. They had the best outing of any of the three pairs by winning a pair of games against the Lakers.

Keuka Men’s Lacrosse Remains Undefeated in NEAC

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Lacrosse team defeated Cazenoiva College 18-7 on Sunday at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

Keuka College (7-1, 3-0 NEAC) will travel to Cobleskill next Saturday to take on the Fighting Tigers in a conference game.

Senior Matt Beebe finished with a career-high 10 points by scoring six goals and adding four assists in Keuka's victory. Brendan King, Ryan Waldron, Andrew Burns, and Dustin Springer each added a pair of goals. Zach Dempsey had a goal and three assists and Sam Cooper and Tyler Andrews also had a goal.

Cazenovia proved why they are the top scoring team in the conference by getting out to a fast lead.
