Keuka College (16-12) will now prepare for the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament. Keuka will be the host school for the tournament that will run from Friday, May 6 through Sunday, May 8. Keuka's first game will be on Saturday at 11am when they play the winner of the game between Cazenovia College and Wilson College.
Game 1
Alfred University got out to a fast start against Keuka, taking a 3-0 lead after two innings of play.
The Green and Gold responded with a pair of runs in the top of the third to narrow the margin to one.
With one out, Samantha Blum and Mackenzie Cole hit back-to-back singles. A walk loaded the bases. Katelyn Warren got an RBI with a groundout. Allyson Muller followed that with a singled to re-load the bases. Alysha Bachman walked to force in a run, making it 3-2. The damage could have been more, but Janessa Vaadi hit a line drive right at the third baseman to end the inning.
Keuka would threaten the rest of the game. Including the third inning, the Green and Gold would leave nine runners on base. Despite outhitting Alfred, Keuka could not get the big hit as they fell to the Saxons 3-2.
Game 2
The Saxons once again scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning for the early advantage.
The score would remain at 2-0 until the fourth inning. Keuka loaded the bases thanks to a walk and a pair of singles by Kate Warren and Allyson Muller with no outs. The Green and Gold got a sacrifice fly by Alysha Bachman for one run, but a pair of strikeouts left two runners on with the score 2-1.
In the fifth, Keuka would tie the game. Sam Blum tripled for Keuka. With two outs, she was singled home by Mickenzie Palmer to tie the game at 2-2.
Alfred quickly answered with a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth to take the lead once again. They led 6-2 going into the seventh.
Keuka got a two-out single by Warren to bring home a run, making it 6-3. Keuka would be able to bring the tying run to the plate, but a strikeout ended the game with Alfred University defeating Keuka College 6-3, sweeping the doubleheader.
