Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team hosted non-conference opponent Sage this afternoon and 10 different players scored as the Rams earned a 20-3 victory. With the win, FSC improved to 3-2 overall, while the Gators fell to 1-2.
After outscoring Sage 4-0 in the first quarter, Farmingdale State freshman attack Jake Wandle (Rocky Point, N.Y.) opened the second with a goal off the feed from senior midfielder James Ragland (Seaford, N.Y.). Only eight seconds later with 13:11 on the clock, a Dylan Fitzgerald (Farmingdale, N.Y.) score gave the Rams a 6-0 edge.
With 4:50 remaining in the first half and FSC on top 9-1, the Rams used back-to-back scores from juniors John McMahon (West Babylon, N.Y.) and Jake Satterley (West Babylon, N.Y.) to take a 10-goal lead. Sage's Austin Seymour (Albany, N.Y.) notched the final goal of the half with 1:08 left to play as Farmingdale State took an 11-2 advantage into the break. In the first half, the Rams won 10-of-15 faceoffs and out shot the Gators, 32-7.
After trading scores to open the third, Ragland, McMahon and junior attack AJ Sandorfi (Lynbrook, N.Y.) each tallied goals to give FSC a 15-3 lead heading into the fourth. Farmingdale State outscored Sage 5-0 in the final quarter as Ragland, Joe Watson (Brentwood, N.Y.), Sean Gannon (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) (2) and Casey Romano (Yaphank, N.Y.) each added goals in the 20-3 win.
Sandorfi finished the afternoon with a game-high seven points on three goals and four assists, while Ragland totaled six points on a game-high four goals and had two assists. Senior attack Shane Clark (Oceanside, N.Y.) scored three goals and had three assists, while Wandle recorded two goals and two assists. McMahon scored two goals, had one assist, picked up a game-high 12 ground balls and won 12-of-18 faceoffs in the victory.
Three players scored one goal in the loss for the Gators.
Farmingdale State next will play host to SUNY Cortland on Friday, March 15th at 7:00 p.m.
