CBS NEWS’ “FACE THE NATION WITH MARGARET BRENNAN” IS THE #1 SUNDAY SHOW ON DEC. 19

SEASON-TO-DATE, “FACE THE NATION” REMAINS THE MOST-WATCHED SUNDAY MORNING PUBLIC AFFAIRS PROGRAM

CBS News’ FACE THE NATION WITH MARGARET BRENNAN was the #1 Sunday morning public affairs show on Dec. 19, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. FACE THE NATION delivered 2.7 million viewers and 465,000 in adults 25-54.


Season-to-date, FACE THE NATION is the #1 Sunday morning public affairs show, its second scoring the top spot in viewers (leading ABC +271,000 viewers in

second place and NBC +327,000 viewers in third place season-to-date). In adults 25-54 and women 25-54, FACE THE NATION is leading NBC for the first time in seven years.


Sunday’s broadcast featured moderator Margaret Brennan’s interviews with NIH Director Dr. Francis Collins, former FDA Commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb, administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration Anne Milgram, and national security adviser under former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Hamdullah Mohib.


Also in the program: Mark Strassmann reported on the new surge in COVID-19 cases across the country, fueled by the Delta and Omicron variants as Americans gather for the holidays. Imtiaz Tyab reported on the surge in Omicron cases in Britain, which is threatening to overwhelm the country’s health care system.
