Janesville Beach, New York - The SUNY Cobleskill women's cross country
team made a strong statement on Saturday afternoon. Running on the
course that will be the host site of the 2015 North Eastern Athletic
Conference (NEAC) Cross Country Championships the Fighting Tigers
recorded a team total of 63 points to place second in a field of 12
teams at the Seventh Annual Cazenovia College Homecoming Invitational.
Junior Taylor Tommell,
Guilderland, N.Y., Guilderland High School, led Cobleskill's assault on
the field 91 runners by completing the hilly 5750-meter course in a
time of 23:48 to place third overall. Tommell was followed by a pair of
teammates as sophomore AnnaClaire Piersiak, Staten Island, N.Y., Curtis High School, finished fifth in 23:55 while freshman Quinn Porter, Ballston Spa, N.Y., Burnt Hills High School, placed seventh in 24:06 for the Orange & Black.
The Fighting Tigers scoring was rounded out by the senior class as senior Megan Jenney, Troy, N.Y., Catholic Central High School, placed 26th overall in 26:01 and senior Chantal Fauteux, Lebanon, N.Y., Lyman Memorial High School, finished in 30th versus the field in 26:16.
Cobleskill
will return to action after the fall college's fall break when they
travel to Clinton, N.Y. for the 2015 New York State College Track
Conference Meet hosted by Hamilton College on the college's cross
country coach beginning at 11:00 a.m.
