KEUKA PARK, New York -- Behind a pair of goals from Matt Hey,
the Keuka College Men's Soccer team defeated Gallaudet University in a
North Eastern Athletic Conference matchup on Sunday afternoon.
The goals were the first two of the season for the senior. Sunday's performance marked a new career high for Hey. Rachid Blanken and Christian Hewitt assisted on the goals. Ben Schreiber added a third tally for Keuka, giving him eight goals on the season.
Keuka College will continue their five game conference home stand next Saturday as they host the
Wildcats of Penn College.
The Wolfpack got out to a fast start against the Bison and scored in
the opening minute. Matt Hey laid a ball off to Rachid Blanken at the
top of the box. Blanken game Hey the return pass and Hey found the back
of the net 52 seconds into the match. The Wolfpack would control the
flow of the game for most of the half. Keuka got back on the board later
in the half. With 14 minutes left to play Christian Hewitt headed a
ball towards the top of the box. Hey ran onto the pass and finished for
his second goal of the game. Keuka would carry a 2-0 advantage into the
halftime break.
Keuka College continued to pressure in the second half, but the Bison
keeper came up strong. Keuka was awarded a penalty kick in the 68th
minute following a handball in the box. It was saved to keep the margin
at two goals. The Wolfpack added to their lead in the 80th minute.
Gallaudet's keeper made another save on a penalty kick, but Ben
Schreiber tucked home the rebound for the 3-0 lead. Keuka would play out
the final minutes for the 3-0 victory.
