The women finished in 37th, while the men finished in 39th
BETHLEHEM, PA – The Medaille Men's and Women's Cross Country teams traveled to Lehigh University on Friday afternoon to compete in the 42nd Annual Paul Short Run presented by Asics. The Paul Short run is one of the largest cross country meets in the country, with more than (5,500) runners taking part from more than (400) schools. The race is so large in fact, that it must be split into three separate races for the men's and women's college ranks.
This year the Mavericks and Lady Mavericks were assigned to be in the 'White Race' for both. The men finished the day in 39th place, while the women came across the finish in 37th.
The Lady Mavericks had five runners compete Friday afternoon. Leading the way was sophomore Jessica Maguder (West Seneca, NY, West Seneca West), who finished the run with a time of (26:31) which was good for a mile pace of (7:07). Freshman Alyssa Murzynowski (Kenmore, NY, Kenmore West) wasn't far behind with a time of (29:02), and a mile pace of (7:47).
The Men's team had seven runners compete in the historic race. They were paced by sophomore James Medley (Buffalo, NY, Hutch Tech), who crossed the finish with a time of (32:57) which was good for a mile pace of (6:38). Fellow sophomores Mark Lancaster (Bergen, NY, Byron-Bergen) and Avery Lewis (Buffalo, NY, McKinley) came in second and third for Medaille, with times of (34:03) and (36:37).
The Men and Women will be back in action on Saturday, October 10 when they travel to Hilbert College and take part in the Meghan Memorial Invitational.
