Purchase, NY – Senior standout Joseph Troop
(Yonkers, NY) highlighted the Purchase College men's tennis team's home
opener with a win over Lewis Pena at No. 2 singles, 6-7, 7-5 (10-8).
The Panthers fell to the visiting Bearcats, 7-2.
The non-conference loss dropped the Panthers' overall record to 2-2. Baruch improves to 1-1 on its season.
Purchase's other win came at No. 1 doubles when the duo of Troop and Riley Damerell (JR/Rochester, NY) earned an 8-4 victory over Pena and Hugo Castalan.
The
Bearcats went on to tally wins at second and third doubles, and later
won four of the five singles matches leading them to victory.
