Seven Players Score Goals as UR Rolls Past Waynesburg, 7-2



McGinty had one goal and two assists on Saturday morning in a 7-2 win.


WAYNESBURG, PA – Rochester exploded for three goals in a span of 11 minutes to take control in a 7-2 women's soccer victory over Waynesburg University on Saturday morning.  This was UR's third consecutive win, all on the road. The UR Yellowjackets (Waynesburg has the same nickname) defeated Alfred, 3-0, then blanked Keuka College, 4-0. Rochester is 4-2-1 overall, 4-0-1 away from home.

Bears fall at Cortland in SUNYAC opener



CORTLAND, N.Y.—SUNY Cortland (3-3-1, 1-0 SUNYAC) scored three times in the first half and twice in the second to defeat SUNY Potsdam (4-3, 0-1) 5-0 in the teams' SUNYAC opener on Friday afternoon. Jaden Galluzzo had two goals and an assist to lead Cortland.

SUNY New Paltz Men's Soccer Announce Date of Annual Heinz Ahlmeyer Jr. Game



New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer team in partnership with the Office of Veteran & Military Services, announced the date of the annual Heinz Ahlmeyer Jr. soccer game, which will take place Saturday, Oct. 2 on the South Turf Field.

Heinz Ahlmeyer Jr. Game - Senior Day mens soccer promo squareDue to COVID-19, the 2020 fall season was canceled, along with the annual event that honors 1966 graduate and former men's soccer player Heinz Ahlmeyer Jr. who was killed in action in the Vietnam War in 1967. The Athletics, Wellness and Recreation Department named one of its most prestigious annual awards after Ahlmeyer Jr. who was beloved by all of his teammates and coaches. The Office of Veteran & Military Services will have a table set up prior to entry and will accept $5 donations that will go toward supporting veteran students at SUNY New Paltz. Donations can also be made to the Office of Veteran & Military Services, here.


The Hawks are set to face SUNYAC rival SUNY Plattsburgh Oct. 2 with the game scheduled for a 1 p.m. start. Along with honoring Heinz Ahlmeyer Jr. with former teammates of the storied 1965 men's soccer team planning to attend, SUNY New Paltz will also honor its 2021 senior class prior to the start of the game as well.

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell field hockey team lost its first game of the season Friday, falling to UAlbany 1-0 at Marsha Dodson Field. 

The Big Red hung tough with the Great Danes for the entirety of the 60-minute contest but UAlbany would win the shots battle, upping Cornell by one each quarter. At the half, the Great Danes led with eighth shots to Cornell's six and the margin only grew as the Great Danes finished with 10 shots (5 on goal) compared to Cornell's eight with just one on target.

Disaster Recovery Centers have been established in Mamaroneck and Yonkers to assist New Yorkers. Recovery specialists from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration are available to answer questions and to help people apply for assistance from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily until further notice. The NYS Department of Financial Services, which regulates insurance companies and other important agencies, is also available. You do not have to reside in Yonkers or Mamaroneck to receive assistance from the centers. Each site is open to all Westchester residents.

FLUSHING, N.Y., September 10, 2021 – Men's singles semifinalist Felix Auger-Aliassime and world No. 1 Ash Barty were awarded the men's and women's 2021 US Open Sportsperson Awards on Thursday. The awards are presented to the professional tennis players who best demonstrate excellence in sportspersonship throughout the US Open Series and the US Open.
