OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's lacrosse team dropped a 22-4 decision to Cortland at home on Wednesday evening. With the loss, the Lakers fall to 4-7 overall and 1-2 in the SUNYAC while the Red Dragons go to 6-5, 2-0.

Ryan Jelen tied a career-high with three goals, which we set earlier this year in a 15-4 win over SUNY Poly. The first and last goal of the sophomore's day came unassisted while the middle goal was distributed by Mark Frega. Jelen now has 16 goals on the year and Frega has accumulated nine assists.

Also scoring for the Lakers was freshman Jarrod Wilkom, scoring the squad's first goal of the game at 10:44 of the first quarter.

On defense, Teddy Phillips had team-highs for ground balls (3) and caused turnovers (2). Frega, Tom Herbert, Tim Garrett and Chase Izyk helped in the 50-50 situations, each collecting two ground balls. In net, Wyatt Russo made eight saves before being relieved by Troy Calkin. The junior made three saves in the final 23:16.

Oswego will now have the weekend off before returning to action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday when it travels to SUNY Canton to take on the Kangaroos
