Oswego Men's Tennis Breaks Program Record With Win

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's tennis team set the program record for wins on Sunday defeating Hartwick College 8-1. With the win, Oswego improves to 9-2 on the year while the Hartwick falls to 1-5.

Oswego got a great start, winning all three doubles with ease. Sam McGrath and Alex McCarthy took down the Hawks first doubles squad by a score of 8-2 while Ryan Korn and John Stanford won at second by the same score. Nick Retzkin and Brian Manciocchi then earned the third point with an 8-3 win at doubles.

Sam McGrath and Alex McCarthy continued their winning performances in singles winning first and second, respectively. McGrath double-bageled his opponent while McCarthy took down his counterpart 6-0, 6-3. Korn secured another point at third, taking down Hartwick's Liam Brown 6-2, 6-1 and Manciocchi secured the seventh point at sixth defeating his opponent 6-0, 6-1.

John Stanford fought hard at fourth singles to earn the Lakers final point, going to a tie break to win. The junior won 6-3 in the first set then went 7-6 (11-9) to earn the victory in the following set.

Men's tennis will return to action at 4 p.m. on Monday (today) as the team heads to Pennsylvania to take on Keystone College.
