HAMILTON, N.Y. – Freshman Amanda Fastiggi
(Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) led all members of the Wells College women's
cross country team as they competed at the Hamilton College Cross
Country Invitational on Saturday at the Hamilton College Golf Course. As
a team, Wells posted a 13th place finish after compiling 387 points on
the 5K course.
Fastiggi completed the course with a time of 19:57.3, averaging a 6:26/mile pace, to place 71st in the field of 181. Junior Bailey Brown (Marcy, N.Y.) placed 152nd with a time of 23:28.2 while sophomore Shiori Hirayama (Hiroshima, Japan) finished two places behind, crossing the finish line in 23:44.1. Sophomore Amanda Bottorff (Cicero, N.Y.) and freshman Rosalety Galea (Brooklyn, N.Y.) rounded out the Wells entrants with times of 26:28.5 and 28:29.7, respectively.
NCAA Division II East Stroudsburg University captured first place as a team after Allison Decker
led the field with a time of 17:09.6. SUNY Cortland led all Division
III teams with a second place finish, racking up only 51 points.
Wells returns to action this Saturday,
Oct. 17, competing at the Cross Country Only Championships at 11 a.m. on
the course located at Seneca Lake State Park in Geneva, N.Y.
