ITHACA, N.Y. - The
Wells College field hockey team dropped a 7-0 decision to the host
Bombers from Ithaca College on Wednesday. With the loss, Wells moves to
2-7 on the year while Ithaca improves to 7-3 on the season.
Ithaca scored only 1:18 into the contest as Colleen Keegan-Twombly scored her first of three goals of the game to put the Bombers on the board first. Michaela Donohue, Amanda Schell and Maria McGloin scored goals before the 20 minute mark of the contest, catapulting Ithaca to the early 4-0 lead.
In the second half, MaryKate Siegel
scored an unassisted goal at 55:57 before Keegan-Twombly tacked on her
final two goals of the afternoon, lifting the Bombers to the 7-0
victory.
Wells was outshot by an 18-to-3 margin on the afternoon. Ithaca also held the advantage in penalty corners, 9-to-4.
Express goalkeeper Sydney Line (Northport, N.Y.) made seven saves on 14 total shots. The tandem of Katie Lass and Shelby McDavid made one save for Ithaca.
Wells returns to action Sunday, Oct. 11
as they face-off against Va. Wesleyan on the campus of Ferrum College
(Ferrum, Va.) at 4:30 p.m.
