PR3 Mixed Double Sweeps Four Races at Gavirate International Para Rowing Regatta

The U.S. PR3 mixed double sculls crew of Pearl Outlaw (Charlottesville, Va./Ithaca College) and Todd Vogt (Rochester, N.Y./University of Buffalo) completed its sweep of the 16th Gavirate International Para Rowing Regatta in Gavirate, Italy, on Sunday, winning the second final by nearly 10 seconds.

After winning the heat and final in the first round of racing and then their heat in the second round of racing earlier this weekend, Outlaw and Vogt capped off the regatta by defeating Great Britain's Daniel Powell and Annie Caddick by 9.81 seconds to secure the second final win. Outlaw and Vogt clocked a 7:37.42 ahead of the British boat's 7:47.23. Austria's David Erkinger and Johanna Beyer once again finished third. Click here for complete results.

"Excellent week," PR3 mixed double coach Susan Wood said in an email following racing. "They dialed in some race calls and strategy. Looking forward to trials in eight weeks. I am so very proud of all that they have accomplished. We have been working so hard and feel on track toward our goal of world championships. It was fun to be at a regatta, as it has been a while, plus being immersed in the international para rowing community. The club here is a perfect host with an ideal venue run professionally."

Outlaw, a two-time national team member and 2019 bronze medalist in the PR3 mixed double, and Vogt, a 2019 National Team member, won the event at the 2022 USRowing National Selection Regatta/Speed Order 1 in Sarasota in March.

With the event recently being elevated to the Paralympic program for 2024, this weekend was a chance for the duo to get four races down the course and test their speed ahead of this summer's national team trials and ultimately the 2022 World Rowing Championships in September.

National team trials in the event will be held as part of the USRowing Summer National Championships July 6-9 on Lake Mercer in West Windsor, N.J. The 2022 World Rowing Championships are scheduled for September 18-25 in Racice, Czech Republic.
