UPDATED..BREAKING NEWS: 7-Alarm Major Building Fire, Collapse In Manhattan

UPDATE 7:10PM A @RedCross emergency shelter has been established at 121 E. 3rd St between 1 Ave & Ave A in regards to the #EastVillage fire. @NYPD9Pct
UPDATE 6:50PM: #FDNY units arrived on-scene in East Village less than 3 minutes after receiving the call.
UPDATE 6PM: Statements from the New York City Mayor:

"Preliminary evidence suggests a gas related explosion. That investigation is ongoing."

"The health department has information on its website related to health: http://nyc.gov/health ."

"We want everyone to know you can call 311 if you want to report someone who may be missing."

"At this moment we know of 12 individuals who have been injured, three in critical condition."

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families."

"@FDNY as usual is doing an extraordinary job handling this situation."

"Any time you smell gas, you need to call 911 immediately, or call @conedison immediately."

"Investigation is underway to get the final facts."

"No @fdny firefighters injured at this moment."

"If people smell gas, they should immediately call 911 or @conedison."

"If anyone does know of anyone missing, we need them to call @NYC311 and tell us." - 

Statements from the Fire Commissioner:

"There are approximately 250 of our members here on the scene." - @FDNY Commissioner Nigro

"Keep your windows closed and limit your time outside as much as possible." - @nycoem Commissioner Joe

UPDATE 5PM: Due to a fire at 121 2nd Ave, 2nd Ave has been closed between 14th Street &
Houston St.  Please use alternate route.
BREAKING NEWS.....Manhattan, New York - The New York City Fire Department is on scene of a 7-alarm explosion, major building collapse at 125 2 Ave, mixed use building.

This fire has spread to three buildings with two of them earlier being fully involved.

Reports are saying that 12 have been injured with 4 serious. More maybe trapped. This is unknown at this time.

Units are being advised not to enter the building.

From photos that are surfacing on Twitter show fire shooting from the roof.

More then 100 firefighters are on scene.

At or around 4:36 an additional explosion occurred.
